Well, you picked quite possibly the worst cafeteria on the planet as your example. I really dont know how to make food worse.
My wife has free food there and refuses to eat it

Haha I won't try to change your mind since you're full of shite.
Their chopped steak, mash potatos and mac & cheese are off the chain.
Their veggies are always good.
I found out from a Piccadilly manager that they use nutmeg in their Mac and cheese. It's damn good.

Quality used to be better on most food like the Chicken Fried Steak....but the beef patty and fried chicken are the same as they used to be (which is fine). Like others have said it is not supposed to be great just something to make families feel better for eating something slightly better than fast food (albeit way more salty in some cases)

All I can remember about that place is these old ladies in fish net hair coverings yelling,
SERVE YOU! SERVE YOU PLEASE!

Picadilly's Breakfast Buffet and cook to order all you can eat pancakes, waffles, eggs/omelets for $9 with unlimited drinks/coffee/juice is the Best Kept Secret in the Baton Rouge Breakfast Scene.

Dilly plate as a kid was awesome. Clean your plate and you could see the astronaut and rocket ship underneath. Chopped beef, rice and gravy, dinner roll and chocolate pie or jello cubes. And the rows of glasses of fruit punch with crushed ice. And I think the one on Government street had a dumbwaiter. Always thought that was cool

Well Piccadilly is a cafeteria and cafeterias are also located in hospitals. I'm not sure exactly what part of your mind needs convincing.
Only douchebags hate on Piccadilly though

The first Piccadilly was in Baton Rouge. I’m pretty sure it was the bottom floor of the Roumain building at 345 3rd St.

West Jefferson in Marrero has pretty doggone good food on the public line. Usually two or three entrées only with sides, though. It is NOT the food served to the patients, especially the cardiac or diabetic patients.
Their Friday gumbo, which they also serve on Saturday, is really, REALLY tasty.
Also, during the week, they have Mo's Pizza on the pizza bar.

And still superior than Pittsburgh's contribution to the culinary world.
An "also ran" restaurant in Baton Rouge or Lafayette would destroy the dining options we have here.

They still have the green jello with the fruit in it...

It is, but then again, I love both Piccadilly and hospital food.
