A friend recently posted a picture on Facebook of his wedding 25 years ago. I was in the wedding party and it was a big crowd, so each person was very small and barely visible in the photo. Plus it was 25 years ago.

I got a message from Facebook indicating that I was in a photo and that I should tag myself. I thought perhaps my friend had listed the people in the photo or tagged me, but no.

Scary.

This shows that security usage or facial recognition is only improving and that eventually there will be a record of you and when/where you pass through public spaces.

Have you ever seen Minority Report? Outside of the precogs shite, the tech in that movie is quickly becoming a reality.

Happened to me the other day. I played in a softball tournament and one of the girls posted some pics to Facebook.

I was not ‘friends’ with this girl and had no mutual friends. Facebook sent me a notification that I was in the photo.

Google Photos has a similar feature that helps you search your database of photos simply by typing in the person's name.

And apple advertises phones that you can unlock with face recognition, meaning that camera is ALWAYS on.

I'll pass.

My Samsung probably does the same shite anyway.

I signed up for LinkedIn the other day. It is now wanting me to connect with distant relatives who I haven't seen in 20 years, and people whom I have saved in my phone. I haven't ever looked them up on the internet, yet it knows I have their numbers in my phone.

I don't have the LinkedIn app.....

Do you really think that the fed gov't, military, and law enforcement don't have even better abilities than facebook does? and that they don't log the results?

That's my point. That they do. And the technology is only getting better and better.

Same thing, I think, with these pop-up ads on here. Google a product and within 15 minutes you're getting ads on TDs about it.

I just wish there was some way to click on the ad and say "I've already bought the damn thing, leave me alone."

Exactly. You are captured from lots of angles going through security check points at major airports. That's one major reason TSA Pre works. You have to submit yourself live, in person, to get the pass after a background check. Your image is taken from multiple angles and goes into a database. When you go through that checkpoint and are scanned, a computer is checking to make sure that you are actually you.
