Yep. I was nervous for him.

A simple traffic voluation in this country makes you feel like you are about to fight. Cops need to approach situations a lot differently.

Thats not out of line. Its a high crime area, and obviously a lot of folks are getting shot over there. Is it unreasonable for police to be overly cautious in an area where not even 8 year olds are safe from gun fire?

I get pulled over once or twice a year and have never felt like a fight is about to break out.

Could have just been trying to scare him because he was not following directions. The issue always seems to be about following directions.

Every time I drive through Louisiana and see a traffic stop, I feel like I see the driver and officer talking outside at the rear of the vehicle.

That was not what this was.

This was a call about a vehicle theft in progress ( felony). Training is that officers do a felony stop in these situations, not casually walk up and ask the suspected felon if he just stole this car. Deviating from training can lead to bad situations for all involved

Police ordered Crosby to get on the ground

And he didn't, and here's your problem.

When a police officer gives you a command follow it or be treated like a freaking idiot.

Got what he deserved, case over.

I agree and they gave him a total of 1.2 seconds to get on the ground. With that said, he should have stayed in his car.

Were your eyes closed when they said "Get on the ground" and he kept standing there and not getting on the ground?

He stood there for maybe 5 seconds with his hands up before a cop came and tackled him.

I agree 100%. He had his hands up and was completely nonthreatening. No need for a 7 person swarm.

But the moral of the story is sit in your car and be polite.

Unfortunately, in today's society, our LEOs have evolved to take a very pessimistic approach, even when there is no obvious threat. As soon as the first blue lights were lit up, the suspect immediately made a safe stop. There was no erratic behavior, and he clearly had his hands up. He posed zero threat to any of the 6 or 7 officers that attacked him.

Should he had stayed in the car? Yes... for everyone's safety, yes. But simple fact is -- he did not pose ANY threat at any time. He simply pissed off the wrong cops on the wrong night and paid a price for it.

I'm all for protecing LEOs. I believe the entire BLM is total horseshite. But in THIS instance, LEO screwed up. They over-reacted and gave a white lady 100% credibility and immediately decided that 1) the suspect was guilty, and 2) the suspect was a threat.

We'll never know if a white man (or woman) placed in the same identical scenario as this suspect, and responded in the exact same way as this suspect would have been attacked the same way as this suspect.

Personally, I don't think he/she would've been treated the same way. That's a problem with today's society, and unfortunately, I do not believe it is isolated. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not saying 100% of LE is racists/bad people. I just think they are like every other segment of society -- there are good and bad people... racists and non-racist people. Everyone thinks LE should be immune from the rest of the negative aspects of a free society, but they aren't.

Anybody discussed why this guy had his own dash cam? That seems peculiar.

So if you don't get on the ground within 5 seconds you are resisting arrest?

There is nothing peculiar about that. Tons of people drive with dashcams.
