the thing that annoys me most about this whole thing, is how nasty these people can be to others over statues.
It really is crazy, people taunting other people and insulting them. It really is out of control

The racial divide is getting crazy right now. Landrieu just energized the white vote unlike anything he has ever seen before.

Well. I long time friend of mine has a property less than 3 miles from here with a historic structure on it that is listed with the LA SHPO *which the monuments are as well)
He gets letters often about what he can and can't do, even the adjacent properties. So please educate me. Can he dismantle the structure and sell the it off as reclaimed wood? Help me understand.
The SHPO is the vehicle by which a property is listed on the National Register. He may live in a municipality that regulates certain properties through ordinance or city Charter, such as the way New Orleans chooses to with the HDLC or the state has with the Vieux Carre Commission.

More bubble wrap coming out.
I wonder if that will protect a 7 ton statue when it hits the ground.

The idiots out there waving their confederate flags deserve anything that may happen to them.

It is not just about the statues. It is about historical ignorance and mostly about power, control and submission.

This really would be comical if it weren't so pathetic. I halfway expect to see Moe, Larry & Curley show up.

He doesn't. Not even in a city or town.

I'm not even sure which side you are referring to, but yea, it's gotten really aggressive.
That said, a lot of the people out there, on both sides, seek to it that type of confrontation so it's not shocking... but it is disappointing when it spreads into folks that actually want to have a reasonable discussion

Be sure to remind them they live in Jefferson Parish

So you're in favor of completely boycotting the city? Not gonna spend another dime here?
I was in New Orleans today and was thirsty. Instead of stopping at McDonalds on Carrollton, I waited till I was in Metairie to stop to get an iced tea. So I didn't pay the 10 cent sales tax to New Orleans. frick 'em.

No. New Orleans is lost. But it has opened eyes elsewhere. I suspect many copycat attempts at tearing down statues in other states or cities.
Eventually enough will be enough.
