1 5 4 2 6 7 8 is actually more in my wheelhouse. I grew up in a town with Budd Moore's shop about 4 miles from my house and Fulton Competition within walking distance. Spent a lot of hours in both during high school sweeping floors and looking over shoulders so I did get a little of both Ford and Chevy but being a 60's Mustang kid I have built more Fords than Chevys.

Is there any other purchased item where so much thought is put into why someone bought it?

I don't question ulterior motives for why people buy expensive golf clubs when they could buy golf cheaper clubs. I just assume that they think they're superior quality and probably perform better.

but it’s fully paid for and only has 29000 miles on it. I work in NYC, so my car is just a commuter car and rarely gets driven. But I’m itching for a fun car.

This. My wife didn't let our 2 month old daughter stand between me and 550hp. No doubt I drive like a guy in a minivan if she's in the car, but thankfully that's almost never.

Ford GT350 imo, they're about tied for idle but I like the under load acceleration of the GT350's exhaust a bit more than the C63 S.

Exhaust wise I prefer a short stroke flat plane crank V8

Bonus point question Why does the 458 Italia have 3 exhaust pipes and the 458 Speciale have only two. Extra extra points for knowing both the practical reason and the historical reason.

Jag did a F type test drive at NOLA a few years ago. Their sound was very impressive.

I rebuilt and Porche 914, worked on the engine size and changed the cam, it would pin your head to the head rest,
and cornered 3 wheels with the best of 'em. The 916 is testament to their handling.
Fixed windshield and fixed rear windshield with built in roll bar. Roll up the windows, pull the T top and even in the dead of winter, she was a joy to drive day or night, the heat rolls from your feet up over your faced and head and there is no backwind since the rear winshield is fixed and above your head.
I don't give a shite what people think, it was a kick to drive

Depends on the car,. I used to look the "old guys" w/ Corvettes and Porsches and pre-judge. A friend has a Land Rover dealership in Texas with hi-end used car lot... always keeps at least a dozen of "supercars", Ferrari's, Aston Martin's, Turbo Porsche's, Lambo's, etc... When I visit we'll spend a day out driving. You can't imagine how much fun it is just to drive them...BUT, I learned that acceleration and track times you see in magazines are EXTREMELY deceptive. Numbers may be close but the feel, precision, refinement, and excellence while getting there isn't. Now when I see an old guy in a Porsche, I can't conceal my green envy. I've yet to experience any man made machine as awe-inspiring as a Porsche. If I could afford one I'd buy it and the LAST thing I'd want along to distract from the thrill is some yapping-as$ bimbo.. I don't care how fine she is. She can wait until I get back and ride in my fricken' Sonata.
