Meh, everyone has their reasons.
Some like fast cars, some like cars that handle great, some like cars that are beautiful, some like cars that attract women.

I don't own one, but they're fun to drive.

Sorry, I can be "that guy" in a car discussion as I have had a lifelong love affair with anything cars, from flathead Fords to exotica.
The "standard" 458's center pipe handles all the exhaust except in race or above settings and above 3500 rpm it shifts to the outside two pipes. It is a historical node to the F40 but the F40's center pipe was the wastegate dump.
The Speciale being a "track car" doesn't need the more civil single exhaust and runs one for each bank with no X-pipe.

The F40 is so cool.
My F40 story:
We had a guy that went to our church, just a normal middle/middle class guy for all we knew who owned a textile surplus business run out of a non-descript concrete block building, maybe 5,000 sq ft. He knew I was a petrol head and invited me over to his shop when I was home from college one winter break. He took me to the back of the warehouse and opened a door that led into a "garage" area and it had two cars under what basically were tarps. He pulled the first one off and it was a 288 GTO and under the second tarp was hidden a F40. I got to drive two legends that day (slowly). He had bought both of them new and the GTO had less than 2000 miles on it and the F40 he had only had for a month or so and it had 300 miles on it. Apparently, he had money but didn't want anyone to know as he swore me to secrecy. Years later when I found out he died I wonder what his family thought when they found the two very special Ferraris hidden back there.

I love people that equate living in an apartment to being poor. A decent 1-bedroom apartment where I live goes for well over half a million dollars.
But god forbid someone in an apartment also have a nice car.

It’s not solely a matter of affording it. It’s not like there’s an abundance of 3-acre properties lying around. There are very few actual single family homes until you get to the suburbs.

And there are apartments in NYC overlooking the park that run $50+ million.
Most people, particularly in the South only see the "apartment complexes". Even then there are some apartment complexes such as ones in Atlanta around Buckhead where in the AM you will see lines of $100+k cars streaming out of the gates headed downtown.

Ya, it is. I'm not saying it's not stupid to pay those prices...but the homes are there. Just at a ridiculously inflated price point.
Which is why I don't live in Boston.
