Someone told me the other day that he knew someone that survived Covid and was released from the hospital but lost both of his legs. I tried to tell him that nothing Covid does could result in the loss of that guys legs, but he wasn’t having it. The difference between having Covid in the hospital and being hospitalized due to Covid would have been absolutely impossible to explain to him.

I'm friends with an ICU nurse.... at one point in all of this she had "3 patients with Covid hospitalized".... but in reality they were cancer patients who happened to have Covid. But of course these people would be counted "Covid Hospitalizations" to fudge the numbers.

So this is the reality based on the info in this thread...
- 46.7k/112k deaths were in New York & New Jersey
- 103k/112k deaths from age 55+
- 8k deaths are Between the ages of 35-54
- 941 deaths TOTAL from age 0-34
If this data above is accurate, then it would be difficult for someone to argue that the lockdown isn’t either fear driven by the media, politically motivated, or both.

I really want to know the reimbursement rate to these clinics/hospitals for a positive COVID test. I had two people in the New Orleans area tell me they have received multiple phone calls from clinics asking if they wanted to come in for a free COVID test even though they are not sick.
It sounds as if it is turning into a money grab in which clinics are soliciting asymptomatic people for financial gain. At which point politicians are using for political and/or financial gain.

It makes sense to count them as COVID hospitalizations, especially while hospitals are using dedicated COVID units to prevent spread to non-COVID patients.
The reality is that it’s very difficult to get clean “root cause” data at a national level. Generally speaking for trending purposes, I’d rather have data with a constant skew than data which has been subjectively curated.
The skew shouldn’t matter much if we, as a society, are capable of being honest when we look at data. The problem is that we aren’t and everyone cherry picks to fit an agenda.
ETA: To be clear, my point is this - you can count those people hospitalized with COVID to better understand the burden in terms of isolation, PPE, etc. while understanding that a portion of those hospitalized with COVID are not necessarily hospitalized because of COVID.

So should we have done what everyone's new favorite country, Sweden, did?
Because they are currently listed as 35% higher deaths per million. Plus, if our deaths from covid are lower like y'all suggest, they are really even higher than 35%.
Sweden is still significantly behind Belgium, the UK, Spain, and Italy in terms of deaths per million... so... to be determined?
I tend to think that the EU's extreme flattening of the curve is going to kick their arse when a real second wave hits. And we'll be sitting relatively pretty.

CDC also announced that the recent spike in cases could be that the tests are picking up head colds.
But truth be dammed

wonder how many of those 112k died from something else and just happened to have the virus
At least half of them.

Relatively few.
Lol you also said that CHAZ or CHODE whatever it's called was a peaceful utopia according to your sources
About 99% of that 112k had other issues

Hmmmmmm... thats a tough one.
Give me the 35% higher.

It's so weird to look at deaths with a microscope like this. Lots of people die every day every year. Is there any data that anyone can find showing how many deaths we had at this point in the nation for the last few years compared to this year? I wonder if there is a significant increase

I read it on the internet so it must be true.

Definitely an increase. But a huge percentage of that increase is elderly. I would bet money that the next 2-3 years our deaths are down on avg slightly to make up for it.
So in other words deaths over 75 are up say 30%, then I bet the next 3 years deaths over 75 are down 10% a year.

Are you saying Covid positives should not be tracked for Covid reporting?

You are correct, we should be tracking it.
But it should be the 3rd or 4th most important metric.
The most important metric tracked should be hospitalizations DUE to Covid. Then deaths DUE to Covid, then hospitalizations and deaths with Covid, then total Cases.

Atleast half of that probably didn’t even have it
Had “symptoms” and just chalked it up to Corona
