I’ll never forget the first year after pharmacy school, after the IRS took my taxes out of each paycheck, I got a sizeable refund back that one year.. but the IRS made me fill out a form/questionnaire basically proving who I was. They had no problem taking the taxes but didn’t wanna give it back
So I had to go to an office to get the form... it was right next to the Medicaid office...
I was the only person in the Social security office... yet the Medicaid office didn’t have an empty chair in the place
Always found that funny

The Earned Income Credit is, quite frankly, income redistribution. It's not enough that it materially affects things, but it's basically a bribe from the politicians to the lower class paid for by the US Taxpayers.

If someone is low income, unmarried, has out of wedlock kids, the government gives them thousands of dollars per kid, up to 3 kids.

Businesses love the EIC...thousands of dollars in the hands of people who will spend it all within a month or two. It's economic stimulus, in a way.

What pisses me off are the comercial advertisements for 2 months to “get money,” followed by 10 months of political talking points to get others to “pay their fair share.”
