I just drove by this new buffet chicken place by my house and there is a line of cars waiting to pull in that bitch. No food taste good enough to deal with all that. Seriously, where do you goobers come from?

Sometimes they give you free cokes for life, if you're there early enough.

Hammond. It never fails, every time a new restaurant opens up here, everyone and their mother come out of the woodwork to visit the place on day one. I swear if they opened a place called "Carl's shite Sandwich Shack", people would be lining up around the block.

It's called a honeymoon period. People always pack the hell out of a place if they have good word of mouth

I've found they always suck. Practice runs are never as hectic as the real thing. Always go about a week after they open.

When the Arby's in delcambre opened I made sure I was the first one there. I waited in my truck for 27 hours first in line in the drive thru til they opened
It was so worth it because I get a free roast beef dip once a month for life

I often say the same thing about Shreveport. It's incredible.
I avoid the hell out of new places. Prefer to give them time to work out the kinks in the food and service.

My wife said the same thing about Lafayette. Cities like that which have nothing interesting, a new restaurant opening is like Iran Contra

Restaurant owners usually have friends and family that support them and can easily fill soft and grand openings.

Soft opening or bust.
It's even better when you do it accidentally on a family and friends night.

Went to a few bar openings, just give the tender a 20$ when you finally do get to the bar and you're golden.

I drove by it too, you couldn’t fit another car in the parking lot if your life depended on it.

It took almost a month for the traffic to subside when the Whataburger opened here in Ruston, LA. Every time I drove by it, cars were lined up on the I-20 frontage road.
It's a town that is small enough to have an article about every restaurant that buys property, an article about construction starting, and another one about their grand opening.
The Wendy's that opened here maybe a decade ago set the national record for first day sales. These fools must feel obligated to go to the opening.
One hundred people did get Chick-fil-A for a year (52 sandwich meals) when that one opened here on August 17th. People

In a previous life, I had short relationships with chicks that were looking for that.
