Flashing lights is asking the car in front of you to move over. Why do some people take offense and get threatened by this?
Flashing the brights at night? Screw you for blinding me. I'm not getting over for you because you're a prick.
Turning your lights off then back on? My bad I wasn't paying attention. Let me get over for you right away.
That's my actions based on the scenario.

when a 75 then pulls over to right lane to strictly convenience you, he then will get stuck behind a car going less than 75 all the while him putting himself at greater hazards changing lanes, merging back and forth just for the sake of you not having to be inconvenienced.
Exactly. The only reason they want the guy doing 75 to get over isn't so they can pass him and get into the right lane. No, they want the guy to get over so that they too can drive continuously in the left lane at a slightly faster speed.

was he in the right lane overtaking a car in the left.
Did you just get impatient and then when you say you passed on the right, were you getting over as soon as you cleared the car on the right?

Agreed. Pretty common on the Autobahn, from what I gather, and not considered a dick move at all.
I think they take courtesy seriously there, you are obligated to move to the right for faster vehicles. You won't get ticketed for speeding but will for not moving over.

Nope. People in Texas will pull over onto the shoulder to let others pass on two lane roads. Not sure about 4 lanes+ but it has always been this way there for as long as I have been driving.
I only ever seen that in Texas, and it's ver common especially on the FM and CO roads.

Driving back from Houston a couple of weeks ago, I honestly started to wonder if the passing lane was even a concept in Texas.

he won't get stuck, he can simply move back over to the fast lane once the other car has passed. What is inconvenient about that?
because he's having to do all the merging and often times in tight interstates, you get over to let 1 guy pass and there's a line of 10 assholes behind him that won't let you get back over. Then all of a sudden you going 68 mph for a mile and a half.

I'm not getting over for you because you're a prick

So you started a thread to complain about the 1%?
More so to discuss the 1%. To understand why.
In Germany you just put your left blinker on and that's it. If someone still hasn't got over you flash.
The #1 reason you do flash though is to tell someone to get out of the way. Slower traffic keep right.

Just don't get the mindset of people who get offended with being flashed.
It's not an aggressive move, it's to ask them to get out of the way.
I was driving on Elysian Fields above Gentilly Blvd. heading towards the lake a few months ago. I’m in the right lane just past Mirabeau and going the speed limit like I always do on surface streets in the city. This count behind me flashed her lights. I immediately took my foot off the pedal and coasted all the way to Filmore.

See there is your problem, people in Houston don't know how to drive

I hope everyone who downvoted the OP gets stuck behind the a-hole left lane driver while they really have to pee

bullshite.
its the a-hole who REFUSES to take off cruise control and ever..so..slowly..edges past the car on the right that causes the 10 car pileup.
quit taking up for these douchebags.

there should be a yearly mandatory driving test for every driver

True but we can't do that in La b/c our shoulders suck and usually have tires or trash blocking them. But Texas drivers forget all courtesy when driving on I10 in La.

not legally the cause, its the prick that's too close behind him that is the cause.

So assuming you pass someone on the right, do you go around them and then get in front of them?
Or do you stay in the right lane which would technically be correct if it's clear
I will usually get in front of them as a way to show my displeasure even though that's wrong
Id love to get in front of them and then gradually slow down but I'm not that much of a dick

I was driving back from BR last night and I had cruise set at 80. He was doing 70-75 and I guess just felt the lane was his.
Here's my experience with how this actually goes down: Speed limit is 70, I'm doing 75-80 in the left lane, overtaking one or multiple cars doing 70 in the right lane. As I'm passing the cars in the right lane, somebody rushes up behind me going 90+, waits until they're about 3 car lengths behind me to break, and then flashes their lights. This is what pisses me off and is the case 90% of the time someone flashes their lights.
But if it actually went down like you said, then you're fine.

At the very least, repeat the "slow traffic keep right" question 10 times in the exam.
