And the only thing I have said is that healthy people that choose to not have kids have some type of mental defect, whether caused by their biology or their environment.

This is fricking stupid. Sorry, bro.

However, something just seems "off" when a healthy, young adult espouses that they definitely aren't going to have kids and have no desire to have kids.

Personally I think its refreshing to hear young people today take ownership of their selfishness. I mean these are not the kind of people who you'd want raising children anyway, not that most of them would if they did find themselves in that situation. They'd either abort the baby or at best be those types of hands off parents that think shipping them off the care programs and boarding schools to be someone else's bother is the best way to rear children.

I mean it's the sole reason the this country is migrating (Pun Intended) toward a "Hyphenated" culture. In 50 years there will be no more "Americans" everyone will be "filling the blank"-American.

I'm glad I won't be here.

People who say they aren't having kids are basically saying everything their ancestors went through and ovecame to allow their existence were so that they could enjoy ~80 easy years watching Netflix, going to Whole Foods, and keeping up with what their friends are doing on Facebook. Thats what this whole thing we call reality has been about - its culmination is your weak little coddled life where you get to be happy and content without any responsibility but to make sure you stay happy and content. Your ancestors traversed oceans, survived the Black Plague, and killed others so you could watch Gilmore Girls and eat ice cream straight from the box.

What if you want to travel the world and just do your own thing without the burden of raising a kid in this world?

I'd say that children don't keep you from traveling the world

My thoughts are that the very people who choose not to have kids are probably the very ones that should be having them to offset all of the kids being born to much less unfortunate circumstances.

I cringe when I hear a young couple, both earning incomes combined of 6 figures, state how they "can't afford" to have a child.

What if they would have been loving kids who adored you and made you happy and proud for the rest of their life?

That was purely one example.

Granted I'm a single 28 year old dude. But I don't really see the point of having children in the near future. But then again, the whole "building a family" deal has never seemed like priority for me.

this will destroy America. Most people who say they aren't going to have kids should have 3+.

It would be interesting to see how many people that dont want to have kids had a good family life.

I dont mean the parents treated them poorly, but did they have actual fun with their family

All the best memories of my life is huge trips, parties, and get togethers with all my siblings and cousins and aunts and uncles.

I couldnt imagine not wanting to continue that as a future patriarch.

Well it is a poor one.

People with kids travel the world all the time. They are just rich

Just say "I'm too poor to travel the world and have kids at the same time"

I doubt many single 20something guys see the point in having children. That doesn't make you selfish. It makes you a normal 20something guy

I also find it extremely simple minded for Jon Ham to immediately jump to the "You just want to watch netflix & be on social media more" rherotic to prove his argument.

I don't think you have to try... to surround yourself with those type of people. Anyone who has a kid playing sports will likely have to interact with those crazies. Hell, I only have a nephew I just going to some of his activities, I come across these people.

I've worked with dads who are completely obsessed with their sons playing baseball. They all think their kid will get a scholarship to play baseball at LSU. EVERY weekend.. During the Summer, Fall, and Spring.. I am sure Winter, if they have anything available.. They are on the road playing travel ball. I use to have a cube next to this dude's office.. All week long he would call parents to try talking their kid into playing with them in a tournament the upcoming weekend.

He would get furious because one kid one the team he put together left to go play on someone else's team. This guy was obsessed. He would have a team registered in tournaments all over the region (parts of La, texas, mississippi, alabama, etc). Each week he had to make sure he had enough players. He would bitch about how this parent would get pissed because he would only call for his son when other kids were not playing.. He would have to end up having to agree to pay for some players just to have enough players, but that was his life. Travel baseball. it was kind of sick,
