People that find yard work relaxing and exciting

How can they say that? It is too much like work. There is a person I know that it all he does and as no other hobbies and does not do anything else.

Yard work is therapy for me. It’s very satisfying to change the landscape of my yard and make it look completely different. I’m aleays thinking of new things to do in my yard.

I offered to help my dad with his yard. He told me to leave because he likes going at it by himself, and that my conversations were slowing him down. The ultimate “GET OFF MY LAWN”

Agreed! Yard work is one of those things where you see a visual confirmation of your hard work. Also, we are wired to be outside and interacting with our natural environment.

It's only "too much like work" if you don't know what you're doing, or don't do it frequently enough.
Our house was on sale last year and I knew people were driving by to look at it. I wasn't gonna give those folks the impression that I was some lazy meatball. My lawn was immaculate. And it helped.
Even that reason aside, I like "getting away" from my wife and son (without actually getting away). A mow + trim + pruning meant I could be alone with my thoughts or just some bitchin music for two hours.
Since we sold the house I've been in a cramped apartment with all my lawn stuff just sitting in storage. I'm ready to get another house.

You know what you can't do while you have a mower and weedeater running? Get nagged by a wife or screamed at by a child.

I enjoy picking out and potting plants (or starting from seed) and taking care of them and doing the “pretty” stuff most, but I really don’t mind cutting the grass because we don’t have that much of it. Pulling weeds is relaxing time outside alone with my thoughts, although only when the weather is nice!
ETA- I don’t think people that have a service or don’t enjoy it are lazy... we all choose different luxuries.

This. I don't rake leaves anymore. I just let them sit.
But, I don't mind mowing at all. It is a bit relaxing in a way.
