How did concentrated professions supersede trades?

Trades are in demand and you'll always get a job.
Unless you own your own business, the majority will get capped out eventually.
The degree just gives you flexibility with many paths to the same or next level of success.

I’m telling my son to become a welder. College is for idiots. I know too many millionaire welders and plumbers to subject him to CRT and grooming at a university.

A post war technology/wealth leap. Education was scarce, working with your hands was common. It was at premium demand. That part is kind of flipped now

I’m not anti-college but I’m also pro trades.
The proliferation of liberal arts degrees, general business degrees and IDS degrees for the sake of college degrees (no offense - if you’re offended self reflect) was really the gut shot.
While k-12 education driving everyone to college has a share of the blame; ultimately I think it falls on the BS degree requirements many companies/roles have. I know a ton of smart people without degrees and a ton of idiots with bullshite degrees.
My cousins in Ireland are idiots on paper (still plenty smart) and were directed to trade school instead of university - I’ve never looked it up but I would imagine countries that actually direct people to trade school are not facing a trade shortage.

My daughter went to college. My son went to trade school. He’s 20 years old, works for Clearwater and makes 130K a year welding.
My daughter does not make $130K a year

Most baws are too weak to be real men and work trades so they have to “work” inside with the women. This is where professions came from

You don’t really need people skills in trades

Yeah, my wife and I have had conversations like this.
We want our kids to at least get an associate's degree right after high school. If they do decide to get a university education later on, they'll be almost halfway done.
That's the path I wish I had taken for myself.
