At least someone in school is learning something, because the youngsters surely are not.

I went back and got a second degree at age 44 after the work I do collapsed on a national level. So I had plenty of time. Thankfully things revived and I never needed the second degree though it would have been a viable fallback. And it was kinda fun to be in college while mature and kick arse. I still have good friends from that time. And it was no where near $40k.

So the older person goes and takes the same exact class as "the youngsters," and only the older person learns anything? Makes sense. Especially when all objective numbers say the younger people are more productive in the workplace.

Practiced psychology until retired at 75.

The University setting is not a workplace training ground. It never has been the intent and never should be.

That's an old fashioned way of thinking. I used to believe that too but if you're not there to gain job skills you're wasting your time.

My employer paid for me to take the accounting classes to sit for the CPA exam.

That's right, I got to get my CPA at no financial cost to me. And my employer can bill me out at a higher rate, so it's a win for everyone.

This OTOH is just being dumb.

obvious troll is obvious.

My former boss sold her share of the company, retired a multi-millionaire and went back to ULL for her degree. Said she loved learning and could finally get her degree.

OP shouldn't try so hard. He looks stupid enough as is.

except for the animal profiles. Hes money with those.

I did. My priority was to get my family raised, and then went back for a graduate degree. It was a good investment and I would do it again. I will say it was tough, after not being in a college classroom for over 20 years.

I'm 48 and I've been with an investment firm for 20 years (the customer service side). Nothing left to accomplish. Started last Fall taking classes for my Associate Degree in Accounting and possibly CPA. My company is paying tuition, books and fees. This is my second career. I want mo money before I retire. I'm doing online classes so y'all don't trip on my walker. Now get off my lawn.

Translation: they are actively being attentive and engaging the lecture like responsible adults, and that is completely unacceptable when I'm texting and snapchatting during class.

After taking a year or so off, I plan to go back to school once I retire. Gotta keep the mind busy.

Mid 40's. The government requires me to take a few classes a year. It sucks, I hate school.
