Wikipedia: Continent

Some models combine Europe and Asia, some combine North and South America, some do both. Some, like we do, separate them all. Considering our definition of what makes a continent is fairly arbitrary, you can pretty much take your pick.

The continent was named first. We called ourselves the United States of America because of that.

What about New Zealand? They get lumped in with Australia.

It’s a fricking fact that the continent had already been “called” America for a couple hundred years by time we got around to forming a country. What, do you think they would have just changed it at some point for no apparent reason if we hadn’t named our nation as we did?

I’d much rather listen to a Columbian complain than a fellow US citizen correct someone when they don’t refer to Chile as “Cheeeeeelay.” Pretentious jack wagons. BAYNEYSUELAHHHHH....AYKWADORRR....BAYLEEEEESSSE.
