One less reason for people to join the reserves. We probably don't need an army anyway.

I get that the program is redundant but you can't tell me that your average military desk jockey is anymore deserving of school money than most of the reserves. One of them is an average 9-5 office job, and the other is a full time civilian job with extra time committed for training (often unpaid) and schools that are put up with often due to the desire to serve their country in some aspect.
Most of the guys I know in the reserves actually lose money going to drill or schools. They don't do it for the money or any extra benefits.

If memory serves correctly, he's been bashed for his views on similar threads multiple times but he always shows up and spews it anyway.

I would anticipate he is an officer. And if he is an officer with those views then he truly is ignorant. He has no idea what sacrifices those in the Reserve Component make.
Again, typical of (I believe) an Active Component officer.
Will put my DA 4037 up against his any day of the week.
For the record - take a moment and read Article 1, Seciton 8 of the U.S. Constitution.
You're welcome.

This will hurt recruiting. More importantly it will hurt retention. GI Bill can be used after commitment is ended. REAP would be for while they are still in a unit. Why stay in? That's the question they will deal with.
This is uber critical for reserve units. With such little training, having legacy guys that have already deployed is going to be very very important. But this move will run some of them off, for sure. It will become a matter of simple economics.

GOOD. Instead of playing Halloween or dress up one weekend a month actually make the commitment and EARN the perks.
Yep, because waking up and exercising, then eating, the going to meetings, then eating, then going to more meetings, then going home at 4pm is EARNING it.

2 tours.
Two times your world was completely turned upside down. Two times you left your family with little to no support mechanism while you were deployed. Two times you left your civilian profession not knowing what your future would hold when you returned.
And you still did it. Willingly.
Despite those sacrifices you are still looked down upon by people like him.
You are what our founding Fathers envisioned when they wrote the U.S. Constitution (which he has sworn to support and defend).
Thanks for your service.

He claims to have been an Apache pilot. Not sure if he's warrant or commissioned

Guys don't sweat that arse clown, he and a few others spew the same shite every time about Guard/reservists.
I have fifteen years, 10 Active(6 army, 4 guard). The level of change that has swept through the Reserve fighting force over the last 15 years is remarkable.
Due in large part to fighting two campaigns at once with insufficient man power from the active component the reserve fighting force became instrumental at so many levels.
The fact that most reserve/guard units deploy and are as effective as their active counterparts has created a lot of animosity.
Truth is reservist bring so much more to the table than an active component due to varying degrees of experience and background.
