ARI is not going to change anything with the USAR. 11th TAC is right there for you. AHB in Texas as a matter of fact.
To the best of my knowldege, divisional AHB will remain (it is part of the divisional structure). Only corps separates may (may) go away.
Do you really want to play this game?
And no, after two battalion commands, SSC (resident) and on my second brigade command, your troop command in an ACR (or whatever) is not that impressive.
You can complain all you want about the RC you want to. They have a lot of faults. But the desire and want to be led and challenged is there for all of them. More often than not, they simply do not know what right looks like (remember the support question - yeah, that would be answered here). Instead, weak, whiny AC officers want to complain about what they can't accomplish rather than getting in the trenches and help them improve readiness. Until you have worked hand in hand with RC units like I have you would be well served to just give it a rest.

64s are leaving the reserves. Knox already lost theirs and unsure about Conroe they may still have theirs. You also realize AHB is assault helicopter Battalion right? That has no apaches.

It really isn't an issue for SM with 10+ years in & have multiple deployments. A lot of what I'm seeing is more reenlistment for TRS / Dental / TSP and the extra pay.
Another benefit is giving your GI Bill signed to your spouse or dependent. My kids will now go to college for free.
I'll probably do 2 more stints in f'ing Syria but it is what it is.

I know the difference between attack and assault. Got the nomenclature for the BN wrong. And ARI is not impacting the USAR. It is the fight with the AC and ARNG and changing platforms (AH 64 for UH 60) and retiring Kiowas. And NGB is fighting this tooth and nail and will probably win (remember that thing called Congress, yeah they pay the bills and they are going to side with the ARNG). I don't see a need for an AH 64 in the ARNG (with the exception of the DIV CAB - did I get that right for you?) but it does not matter. They are not giving up their platforms no matter what AVN branch proponent wants. And why do we need AH 64 in Conroe? Again, don't know. Really does not fit with the USAR mission in my opinion . But we are not the low hanging fruit.
Seek to understand, then be understood. Work off the premise that the average Soldier in the Reserve Component wants to do well. They are just (often) poorly led and the full time support structure is atrocious. You get what you pay for. The AC does not want to do anything meaningful with the RC support mission. So don't complain if you don't get a better return on your investment. It is not the fault of the individual Soldier who drives 300 miles to drill and pays their own way and (often) their own lodging.

I truly wish every military thread did not end up in a pissing contest between active and reserve. Like I said there is lots of animosity built into the active side towards the reserve side. Ole and his group just can't wait to jump in to any military thread and bash away. It really shows your insecurities, which I find amusing if you really are a pilot. Most pilots I know are strong willed with big ego's but they really don't worry to much about knocking other services, branches, or MOS
Clearly the there has been a force change over the last 15 years as I have stated and more has been asked of reserve components due to the optempo. I can not attest for every active and reserve unit or commander but through two deployments I have witnessed great things from both sides.

GOOD. Instead of playing Halloween or dress up one weekend a month actually make the commitment and EARN the perks.
I enjoy having fun at the expense of reservists as much as the next guy, but, in the last 14 years, more than a few reservists have deployed. Many have deployed more than once.
At one point, more than 40% of the troops in Iraq were reservists. 36% of reservists overall have deployed and 11% have deployed more than once.
For comparison, for active duty, 48% have deployed to Iraq, 33% deployed to Afghanistan and about 15% have deployed more than once.
So, your "Halloween dress up" line is not exactly on point.

Geauxxx, I am an officer and am always open to discussions for improving soldier training, readiness, and retention.

Hit me up when you get a chance and I'll shoot you some things I've been working on. Would be good to get a perspective from a guard officer.
I'd rather not put it on the board. At least not yet

USAR is losing their apaches. Wanna make a bet?
Here's the bet: personal pride knowing I'm right.

SCARNG were pretty well utilized with their Apaches.
The FTNG manning is horrible so you have that dead on.
UA's for the Reserves are probably no better.
Remember though, the ARNG is just as political, if not more than, as the AC.

Took you that long to confirm your information? Thought you were the AVN proponent expert? And do you even read? I said the USAR will probably lose the fight (we cannot make any coherent argument why we have attack from my perspective) but ARI will not get the return it wants. ARNG is not going to lose because they 1) Have the backing of Congress and 2) Have the division structure to maintain attack (would be dumb to strip them of something that is organic to the DIV - but AC never ceases to amaze me - you took MEDEVAC away from medical). So what is your excuse going to be when the ARNG retains their structure?
You seriously are obtuse. I know you think your company grade perspective has the answers but you do not have a clue. AC will do whatever Congress pays the bill for.
Get caught up since you got out (thankfully).
National Commission on the Future of the Army
Learning. Get some.
ETA: Seeing your train of thought, I can see why you got out. Did you even get through your CCC? Hard to imagine you as a company level commander. Seriously not that bright. Hopefully you could handle that cyclic and collective a whole lot better than you do your debating points.
ETA2: This had to be you at Fort Campbell.
Think I can make it in between there?

Okay so you are saying USAR is losing their apaches but ARNG won't?
Ask Pennsylvania how that's going for them. Also the NCFA findings will not be positive for the ARNG. Again when I'm right I would like you to come on here and eat crow.

Reservists, where the military worship buck stops.

ARI is genius and probably the greatest thing to ever come from Aviation Branch. MG Lundy is the smartest person I know.
The main point is that an active apache unit deploys at a 1:1 ratio. ARNG units deploy at a 1:5 ratio. We need those units in the AC to meet the worldwide contingency operations we are presently involved in and those aircraft are being WASTED with a 1:5 in the ARNG.
Contrary to Lindsey Graham's bullying the NCFA will look positively on ARI.

Bro, I could go on FMS web right now and look up future structure. Proponency only makes recommendations. Congress pays the bills. If they say it goes down, it goes down. If not, it does not. But at least (I think) you know what the commission is all about. So you got that going for you, which is nice.
Just admit it. You quit. We get it. Rather than taking your skills and using them in a positive way, now you find your self worth in insulting those who stayed in the fight. Those who are willing to sacrifice of their personal and professional time to contribute to the defense of the nation. Congrats.
ETA: Peeled back that onion though. MG Lundy huh? Don't know him (not my community - could care less about AVN except MEDEVAC) but would not doubt he is a brilliant guy. His rationale is probably very sound (you kind of missed those hints earlier), I have no dog in that fight. Bottom line, you are out. Stop worrying about us that are still carrying on the fight. We got this.

I had no desire to be an S3/XO or field grade officer for that matter. I led soldiers at the level it matters the most and left on a high note.
