I'm confused, isn't this just taking away the GI Bill? Or revising it drastically?

Not really. I. The grand scheme of things this isn't a huge deal.

Employers are gonna shat their pants when the number of UTAs double causing the ESGR office to double in size :/

The plan requires no additional drill periods and will ba sickly be cost neutral.

You are right we should always strive to do better and the reality is that we will have to continue to be creative and think outside the box when it comes to preparing our soldiers in the reserve status. I have found that if you engage young soldiers in the guard and challenge them they love it. They want to learn, grow and be successful in their military careers just like an active duty soldier.

Are you an officer? I've been kicking some ideas around about how to address this. I've talked to Wolfhound45 about it offline. I'd like to get your thoughts.

Again, typical of (I believe) an Active Component officer.

This.

There are very few good officers who understand what it's like to take the same risks he is taking in the field...for half the pay.

Benefits, however small, are very important for morale.

Lol he's not an alter of mizzou. That's his opinion and he's entitled to it, even if it's garbage.

Besides the REAP program has been replaced by the post 9/11 partial. It's better for the student anyways. In fact they're doing the reservists a favor by pushing them towards that plan. IMHO, I have used both and the Post 9/11 was better. If they did away with Ch1606 then it'd be a problem

The guard is the way to go if you're looking for college money.

is that those reservist have a legal binding contract saying they are entitled to the benefit

Actually, that benefit isn't listed anywhere in the contract.

Not only that, but any benefits listed are "subject to change at congressional discretion"
