3rd offense DUI should be an automatic 10 years. Minimum.

I’m honestly surprised you don’t see more family members of victims going after DAs and judges with all of the repeat offenders eventually killing someone.

I thought Louisiana had a three strikes law? What happened to that?

Really wish LA took DWI's more serious. You're always reading about some dumb arse who is on his 6th DWI and somehow isnt in jail.

Same shite in South Carolina... worse still, they DOWNGRADE charges so some drunks don't even have it on their record. I got severely rear ended by a drunk in a hummer towing a big arse boat in 2018... he got off with some BS charge that would fall off his record if he kept his nose clean for a year. Bastard was drunk as a skunk AND fought four cops.

I kind of wonder at what point they should just put them in jail for life.

it should at least be the point at which they kill someone, but...

If you drive drunk and kill someone, that should be an automatic capital murder charge with the death penalty on the table. He made the willful decision to drink and then drive. The consequences should be draconian.

Wish Louisiana would adopt that law Texas implemented saying if an impaired driver hits and kills somebody, and that person had kids, they have to pick up child support for those kids until they are 18 or whatever.
