Yeah, it's trashy. Peanuts should only be placed in orange soda.

I learned it from watching my dad and I like peanuts and coke so no biggie.
When I got old enough to throw hay and you went to the store (there was only one) after a whole day of that shite in July an RC out of the cooler with ice and a pack of peanuts in it was heaven. You didnt just go in the store and leave you shot the shite with neighbors for a minute, finished your "coke" then went home, but man did you feel better, recharged.

8oz coke and a pack of peanuts used to cost 15 cents, 10 for the coke and 5 for peanuts. If you had a quarter in your pocket you were set for the day.

Grew up doing this. Still do at times. It's good.
When coke had real sugar in them it was a good pick-me- up. Sugar, salt, protein.

Damn. That actually looks like a good idea.

Yeah, I always put them in root beer, but I haven't tried it in probably 30 years.

I've seen the coke bottles on the ground with peanut shells in them and wondered htf that happened. This has been an enlightening post. And damn that's nasty.
Posted on 7/18/17 at 11:07 pm to OleWarSkuleAlum
Pardon my ignorance..Do you save them for last after soaking in the coke? Eat through out the cold drank experience?
Posted on 7/18/17 at 11:22 pm to OleWarSkuleAlum

Nope. Been around for years. Sweet and salty are naturals together.

This has been around for 80 years.

It sounds gross, but not sure if it's trashy. But who really gives a damn, if that's how you like it.

It's traditionally Dr Pepper and peanuts.
This thread really separates the old versus younger folk. Youngins think it's trashy, nasty, etc., but they didn't get the joy of a grand parent passing on an obtuse tradition.
I'm not a fan but respect the antiquity of it.
