It's about time we make a drone that can do that.

I imagine communication with the drone would be very difficult in that scenario. Satellite connection has bad latency by nature, which would make controlling/steering the drone difficult. Also, with all of the winds, clouds and rain, I'm sure it'd be tough to communicate to a drone that way.

Not saying it couldn't be done, but maybe why it hasn't yet.

The water is much deeper off of that coast of mexico than the Gulf. That could be the reason for it.

Read on another board something may be wrong with the recon plane.

Looks like it but I'm in the gym getting swole and haven't been paying that close attention.

Hearing of a 660 m drop in 30 sec by the @NOAA_HurrHunter in center of #Patricia. Must take some time to clean up the cabin after that.

It's weird how those waves don't look like much at all. I was in Gulf Shores the day before Katrina, and it was insane compared to that.

That cam in LaManzanilla is north of the storm in a bay/cove off of the ocean, meaning that the winds are blowing from the east. An east wind would make that shoreline "protected", for now.

Always been really interested since I was a little kid and have enough engineering classes under my belt to have some general idea what's happening. I'm not a professional or anything.

I'm just a Chem E student who's always had a fascination with the weather. Now I just have enough of a background in thermodynamics and fluids to have some basic understanding of the physics at play.

What the hell does engineering have to do with meteorology?

This thing is probably going to make landfall near or after dusk, right? If it's dark, that's going to further suckify this mess.
