RIP Mr. Eddie Gabriel...anyone else here remember him?
Was lucky enough to get to see him before he passed. Heard he didn't evacuate during Katrina and that took him down.

Ha, we certainly painted the town red that evening. Paul looked like such a baffoon with that lamp shade on his head.

Not sure if true but I was told they had to stop serving the Hurricane Magnum's because some drunk fell onto one of the glasses and got seriously injured. Pat O's liability insurer mandated they not use the glasses moving forward.
I know a dude who the 2nd guy looks like his dad. Knowing his dad, that might have happened that night.

According to several articles over the years, POB's got its start at the end of Prohibition. Bourbon was the top whiskey, rum just a cheap afterthought. The bourbon sellers demanded that POB's...just getting started...buy all their rum first. They did, experimented with gallons and gallons of rum and came up with the Hurricane. Rest is history. What I've always liked about POB's is when you order a call brand liquor, Crown, Jack, etc. you get what you ordered. Not always the case in many places in The Quarter.

Based on the posters in this thread that like this place, it must be one hell of a gay bar
