Passed a fake narcotics checkpoint this morning. Weird.

On my daily drive to work this morning, passed a sherrif's deputy car with it's lights on parked on the side of the road next to a trailer mounted LED sign that said "Narcotics Check Point Ahead." Went around a curve past the sign and never saw a checkpoint or even a cop along the next ten miles of the highway.
What's the deal with that? Is it possible they set up on the backroads that run parallel to this highway to check people that had gotten off the highway after seeing the sign? Do cops do that?
Never seen a bluff like that.

I have no idea but that would be a smart move and cops aren't usually that smart.

I saw the exact same thing 30 miles outside of Jackson on Hwy 49. It was Memorial Day Weekend. Same sign. Never saw a checkpoint.

They do this on I-49 all the time. If you toss something or make a sudden lane change to exit at the last minute you get pulled over

It is my understanding that Narcotics checkpoints are illegal. A lot of times they are done under the disguise of an insurance check point or something else.

It's to make people act suspicious so they can pull them over on some other BS thing and then search their car. They can't just stop you and search your car for no reason.

They can't legally have a drug checkpoint. They setup the signs as a bluff and then watch for suspicious reactions to the signs which give them "cause" to pull you over

God this country is so fricked.

Narcotic check points are not legal. They want you to get nervous/do something sketchy to give them cause to pull you over.
Edit: What Lsuhoohoo said.
I didn't realize he beat me to it.

Thats pretty much all they do.
If you ask Border Patrol officers that do those inland checkpoints 100s of miles from the border, they will tell you that they never catch illegals AT the checkpoint, and that the checkpoints basically coral suspects into a secluded area where they get nabbed. Im assuming the same works for these.

I bet there was an exit right in front of the sign or right after it. If you had taken that exit there would have been several LEOs waiting at the end of the exit ramp.

My thing is those checkpoints are set up that by the time you realize it is there, there is no way off the road between there and the actual checkpoint. This spot had a curve past the LED sign and a nice little right turn that is a country road that runs parallel to the highway.

can we set up a thug POS checkpoint near these places where mobs of HS thugs attack innocent people at a gas station?

I pity the poor person that just happens to get off at the next exit.
I felt like before we were slowly crawling towards Soviet style "let me see your papers"... This is a brisk walk.
