So my kids are older, and when this stuff first happened, I know that they and a lot of their friends were looking for babysitting jobs. There weren’t really too many to be had. I feel that people are definitely not utilizing sitters much.

I couldn't take it anymore. I dropped my 6yo and 3yo off at the fire station last week. Let the state pay someone to watch them.

It sucks. My daughter will be in second grade in the fall and it would be tough. The home schooling portion wouldn't be the issue... it's the child care being the issue.

So you don’t have kids? It’s not raising kids, it’s raising kids while having to work with no support system and not being able to take them anywhere. You can’t really even take them on errands to the grocery or hardware store.

I'm fortunate that my wife (no pics) has a friend that is a teacher (no pics) at our kids school. The teacher is able to come to our house daily and perform her obligations (minimal bc she's a pre-K teacher) while assisting with our kids.
Wouldn't it just make more sense to have them on MWF week 1, TTh week 2.... Either way, our jobs are flexible enough that we would be able to work around this most weeks. There would be some times given our set busy weeks, where it would put a lot of strain on the other parent, if we didn't have outside help.

I think you’re right, but the thing is a lot of people are out of jobs and may not be able to afford sitters.

Summer Camps are set to open June 1. I dont see why we can have camps but not school.

I'm going to open a specific COVID SCHOOL. All kids welcome. Each will have his or her own telephone booth to sit in

No..not effectively.
I have two elementary age children
My wife is in the early stages of a 3yr project that requires attention and lots of colleague collaboration. I have some flexibility but...keeping an 8 and 6 yr old task ...and be a productive employee. But on the bright side....i can help my kindergarten age daughter with her school work
All my colleagues either dont have kids or have a newborn. I feel like my boss has shifted work away so i can do both roles....but i am concerned that could be an issue in advancement ( and not that it necessarily shouldnt...other people are doing the work)

Yes but only because mine is 12 and can sit quietly in my office with a book or playing on her ipad, although she'd get bored after a couple days of doing that all day. Or she's old enough to stay home if she can get past being nervous about being alone for 9-10 hours.

I think the rotating students is stupid as well. Especially because all the data is continually showing children are significantly less vulnerable

Is this a long term viable option though? My mother in law has been living with us the past month as she works in a school and we needed help.
But, she had to go home she needed a break. I don’t think she can do much longer. She offered to come down in June for a bit. But no way she could do long term next fall.

Agreed.....at this point we are 3 months out and they are already about to let 150 people back in our church this weekend....I don't think it is unreasonable to think that having 25 or so students in a class everyday will be unreasonable come August.
