Did it with mine for a very long time. As they got older we would read young adult novels together. It was special times for sure. Highly recommend doing it as long as possible. Our oldest will often remark that reading every night is what made him so smart!

My oldest is 7 and we still read together at bedtime sometimes, although he mostly does the reading now.
I'll read when I am reading to him and the younger sister.

My youngest two are 17 & 12.. both girls.. the 12 yr old wants me to tuck her in every night.. 17 yrs old shockingly still asks every once in a while.. Not reading but it's something so hold on to it as long as possible because it will be gone sooner than you think

I feel bad I don’t read to my 6 y/o, read to my older one until at least his age.

We are reading number the stars right now with my 10 year old a chapter or two a night.
We all sit around. My wife has a great and soothing voice to listen to when she reads.
I told her she should do audiobooks. It's like a fricking trance.
Might do the hobbit next.
I wish she'd do the wheel of time. We'd get a lot out of that series longevity wise.

I read the How the Grinch Stole Christmas to my son every year he’s 17 and tolerates it because I’ve read it to him every year.
I miss the days when I read to him though

I hope I get to do it for many more years. Best part of my day.

I read to my 9 and 11 year old sometimes. Didn’t know there was an age limit. It’s fun.

I just put my first to bed (second coming soon). Almost 2.5 years old. I miss when she couldn't say much when i read stories. Now she likes to talk and point things out in her books. We usually read 3 to 5 short books a night to practice her colors/counting/objects/etc., so it has been awesome to watch.
Now we do lullabies before bed, and apparently daycare has been teaching the words to the songs and she knows a few. Tonight was a long night here so she is well past her bedtime. She asked me to sing ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Mid singing she cuts me off and says she wants to sing. Finishes her song, asks me to sing. I'm not even to the third verse and she knocks out instantly. I don't know how long I'm going to be able to enjoy these feelings, but they're pretty awesome right now.

Please continue reading so that they might not end up like you.

I either read or sing a song to my son (5) almost every night. I cherish it very much. I used to mainly just sing him a song every night, but there was a time when he told me he didn't want me to do that anymore. I told him that was fine and then after I put him to bed I went to the back and cried like a baby because it crushed me.
He's back on it again now though, so every night it's either a book or a song. And he sings with me now too, which is awesome.
I think it's one of the things I will miss the most once he's older and no longer wants to do it. So I don't care if when he's 15 he still wants me to do it (or some version of it). I 100% will.

I really miss story time and "silly business" where he would say the wrong words on purpose to get me to tickle him. They grow up too damned fast.

I had a big space between my first and my second two, so there were nights when my 10 year old would join us for bedtime story or he would read to them as well.
I would pay a lot of money for the three of them to be piled into one bed, wearing the matching pajamas Grandma made for them, and reading about pirates, whales, or Lightening McQueen.

One day you’ll read your very last bedtime story and probably won’t know it.
