Someone claiming to be the wife's cousin corroborated that on either FB or the Arkansas subreddit. Basically the wife was able to get the girls away safely. Tragic that she went back.
The more I think about this, the more it infuriates me.

What exactly are you struggling with?
I simply cannot fathom what's difficult to understand about a devoted wife going back to try and help her husband fend off a knife attack and death.
You get help. She has children to think about.

Without knowing the park, why would she not have enlisted help form others? It says they were found at the visitors center, certainly there was someone else around?
Additionally, that begs the question of why the killer stayed around?

Fair enough, then let the CO"s look the other way when this guy gets f'ed up in prison. And, no PC for this a-hole either. I mean if he's tough enough to slash parents in front of the kids he's man enough to take on general pop.

I have to admit, I was way off on this. Random knife attacks in the woods (although seemingly premeditated) are, I would think, statistically very rare.
It takes a lot of exertion to stab someone to death. You'd have to be filled with a great deal of rage. Something that is hard to imagine feeling towards a random family in the woods. This guy has to be a real psychopath.

It doesn't sound like anyone was there. It also says the girls were found bi a hiker, which makes me think he walked up on them afterwards. Wouldn't you think if there were someone at the visitor's center she would have told them and/or we would have seen statements from them?

There's no guarantee they all would have survived if the mom didn't go back and confront the suspect and delay him. The dad was stabbed in the chest right away, so he was probably incapacitated almost immediately. It wouldn't have taken a young, fit male long to catch up with a hysterical mom and daughters. The mom likely saved the daughters lives just as much as the dad did.

Devil's Den has about 12-13 trails. They were on a 1.5 mile loop trail known as The Devil's Den Trail. This is a short primary iterpretive trail connected to two main parking lots and the visitors center. It's the first trail that park newbies attempt. Yes, it's crowded especially on a Saturday. LEO's aren't saying where on the trail the crime occured. For all we know it may have been at the farthest point on the loop from the visitor center and parking lots.

Not specifically, but they did say the incident took place about 1/2 mile into the park.

Just in case people don’t think that the eyes are the windows to the soul… look at his.

We went last year, the visitor center was run by a couple of ladies. One was older and neither looked like MMA stars. Plus the cell service was shite everywhere, even at the visitor center. We finally got service at the top of one the trails. The restaraunt had a guy running it but that was fairly far from the visitor center. Pool life guards were girls as well. Ranger did pass by several times a day but not that often. Cabins were pretty far from visitor center. Not a place Id want to be attacked without my pew pew.
Very nice hiking trails built by men who came home from WW1 if I remember correctly.
Edited to add. You really only saw people at the cabins, scenic overlooks, and the pool area. Anywhere else, it was pretty thin. Devils Den trail was the buisiest and we only ran into 3 other groups. Lots of trails to spread people out.

Looks kind of like State's QB Blake Shapen. At least had the same hairdo.

Do you know how many teachers at my school have an arrest history?
Considering the background check this is doubtful.
What is not in doubt is that Teachers are not required to take a pre-employment drug test.
That evil sob is definitely on meth!

Well that sucked, if he is guilty beyond a shadow of doubt and I hope he dies a very painful death.
