Subsidizing housing, clothing, food, healthcare, transportation and even communications is way more expensive. If politicians (both parties) truly wanted to solve or reduce these problems they would put a cap on unearned entitlements and have systems in place to make people independent.
the fact that so many are defending them is a frightening look at our society today.
