Parent Board: When do things get better after 1 years old?

I love my child but the kid kind of sucks right now.
Always screaming over his teeth.
Always screaming because he is hungry.
Always sick often and mean.
Always whining.
Always yelling and doesn't want to be held.
Always wants to be left alone to play.
Beats the mess out of you if you try to rock him.
Give me some light at the end of the tunnel. Is it grade school?

When they wipe their own arse

When they can start to communicate verbally. Ours was around a year and a half and has gotten exponentially better since then.

you've got to about 2.5 in my experience. both got pretty self sufficient at that point and able to entertain themselves save for getting them food and drink

Around age 18 when they head off to college. Good luck.

When they get out of diapers, it’s great.

I should probably say when you try to change him he always tries to flip on me.
Then if you try to give him oragel for his teeth he bites you hard with the four teeth he does have.

Every year gets better.
0-2 are the worst years, honestly. When kids learn language, it get much better.

When they learn how to walk and talk. 18-36 months; they learn a lot in that time. By 4, they’re pretty self reliant. By 5, you’ll be wishing they weren’t so independent all the time.
Enjoy the ride. Of all the terrible advice I got from everyone, the fact that it flies by was the one good nugget.

1 is the worst. Once they learn how to talk, even a little, it is much better. They'll still pitch fits, but at least you know what they are crying about.

2-4 are some of the best years imo. They are still a pain in the arse but they’re so damn cute

It gets better when they can talk and tell you what they want.
It's different for every kid. Girls talk pretty quick I've been told. None of my boys talked until they were nearly two or shortly after, but until then it was just strings of nonsensical jabbering with the occasional purposeful word thrown in there. I used to be worried about them talking, now I wish they would shut the hell up every once in a while.
I digress. When they start talking they turn into little humans and they can tell you what they want or what's wrong. 10000x easier than trying to guess what they're screaming/mad about/etc.

Wait until they become teenagers
