This post is making me crave Papa Johns. If you're a Papa Johns store manager, you're a genius.

Rovell is a freaking turd.

How someone employs that guy is beyond baffling.

Yeah the yahoo story is a copy from PR Newswire with the source credited as John Schnatter

I believe that this may be the most important part of the story.

The full recording, however, portrays an entirely different picture than the one painted by the media at the time.

Right. Papa John literally wrote this article “possibly exonerating” himself

So they just didn't like the guy?

Per Luke Rosiak
quote:

PR firm Laundry Service was hired to improve Papa John's reputation, but a secret recording suggests that its woke staffers were more interested in imposing their ideology, calling him a "sociopath," lamenting that he is "BFFs with [Mike] Pence" and liked a libertarian group
quote:

The woke PR firm lost the Papa John's contract, and had to lay off 10% of its staff. Two days later, Forbes published a thinly-sourced story saying he used the n-word. The call suggests that the company was trying to set up Papa John before he ever made the remark.
quote:

A Laundry Service employee says it tries to interlace corporations with politics, promoting "black lives matter." When Papa John expressed a more nuanced view than the PR firm's preferred politics, the recording suggests that that they tried to end the career of their own client.
quote:

None of Laundry Service's own executives are black, according to its website. And if the allegations of a $6M demand are true, its strident ideology may not be so inflexible if there's money to be made. So far, woke staff have seemed to be a liability, with layoffs and a lawsuit.
quote:

The context of the tape makes clear that when Papa John used the n-word, it was in the context of condemning it, and expressing bafflement that his remarks calling on “NFL leadership” to find a way to satisfy both players and owners on anthem kneeling were compared to real racism
quote:

The PR firm got him on the phone for what he thought was a call about advertising, but which it said was actually to get his "raw" and un"rehearsed" views on race, which were secretly recorded and later made their way, stripped of context, to a news outlet.

At least that explains what has happened to Corporations and their marketing. Good grief.

How so? Your post insinuates I'm a drunken loon calling someone else the same name, yet I'm not a big drinker.

If you don't think this dude looks like a drunk of question your eye sight

Pretty amazing stuff.

I think JS was legitimately a loose cannon of sorts, but probably not a bad-natured or malicious one. He just didn't have the restraint demanded of the modern CEO. For the record I think we're all worse off because of that demand.

But this is a sign of the times. A professional outfit paid by an entity sets up the head of said entity because they're woke. I honestly understand that any PR firm is going to be by nature obnoxiously timid and PC, but that wasn't what the transcript shows. It shows pure vitriol. I do not know what duties are owed in that business relationship, but it's an egregious violation of trust, and blatant bad faith.
