Any Nola baws been noticing they are getting worse. Especially right around the outskirts of the city. The one that I always see is the girl at Tchoupitoulas and Calliope. She has had a sign that says "need money for my future baby, I'm pregnant" Bish has been preggers for 3 years now. Don't you think they should at least make new signs..

Does anyone ever give them money?

Put them all on a bus and bring them to Austin or Denver.

I notice the same group of people there every morning. The tent city under the interstate drives me insane. I want to take a water gun filled with deer piss and just spray them all down.

If any mayoral candidate wants my vote, all they have to say is they will make it a priority to clean up these damn little homeless communities, and they will have my vote regardless of any other policy position they hold.

I haven't -- though I have given the occasional food coupon before (to mixed reviews). But its a product of two things (in my opinion):

(1) The city allows it to happen (essentially becoming a sanctuary city for panhandlers) and now the problem is too big to handle overnight.

(2) (and this may sound harsh) Charities, while doing good, are making their lives too comfortable by bringing food and clothing to their panhandling communities.

I live in the Warehouse District and I don't think it's gotten any worse over the past 3 years. It's been awful for a while.

There’s a decent looking white girl in her 20s that stands on the corner of Nicholson near the new Water Campus building. I always wonder about her story.

There is a "homeless couple" who stand on West End in LV all day with their dog right as you get off the interstate. I live right there and see them get in their car and drive away every day around when it gets dark.

There*

I live in lakeview. I see them all the time. I've followed them before (creepy yea whatever) but I had to see where they went. They live in a house on the other side of the 17th street canal. Two cars. The fact that these people can make 50k in a year nontaxable money is asinine.

They wouldn't do it if people didn't give them money...I wish people would stop.

I'm also tired of parents and 20 kids at street lights asking for money too...to fund sports teams I suppose? At least sell something...guess I'm just an a-hole.

See the thread about "the craziest person I've ever met". Probably something similar.

What really kills me is down poydras I've seen a grown man sitting on the ground with a baby and toddler with him. Where is child services in this situation. That's just teaching the kids it's okay to beg for money.

I haven't gone to NO since French Quarter Fest and don't miss it. Too much crime for me.
