Hypothetically if I were looking to move to the FL Panhandle in a few years, are there any towns that have the small southern town atmosphere that is worth living? Any suggestions?

Let’s not and say you did. Florida doesn’t need any more ratfricking by people sporting visors and salt life stickers.

I get it. You’ve got a giant snook snicker on the back of your f150 window and aren’t gay or anything. Minus the kick arse boat slip of course.

Freeport, property values still aren't out of control but will get that way with the rumored developments. Milton, Defuniak springs if you are looking for towns outside of the tourist areas. Kind of reminds me of towns in East Feliciana.

Pensacola is your biggest "real" city with opportunities besides tourism, real estate, and military.

Ocean Springs, ms is the nicest town I know of. It’s the hidden gem of the gulf coast. Close enough to Biloxi/Gulfport to have everything you want, but it is the cleanest small town I have ever seen.

Fairhope is pretty damn nice, but I guess technically not on the gulf coast

Both of these places are awesome! (But not in the Florida panhandle)

I have a friend that lives 20 or so miles north of Pensacola. Seems like a pretty nice area. Like anyplace semi rural you have a few pockets of trash.

I mean- that’s the most basic definition of pretty much all of the great northwest Florida / small towns have their own character but they all have that southern atmosphere- it’s comes down to what’s important to you.

Need high speed Internet? Stick to the bigger cities / we have a rural broadband problem

Need a good school system? If it’s public…for the most part, it not great

Need to be close to the Gulf? Small cities in all the Gulf counties

Need a nightlife? Stick with Pensacola

Honestly, lots of great places it just depends on what other amenities you are looking for

Have you been there recently? I went twice last year, with thoughts of looking for a house. It was completely insane, like I have never seen in the 40+ years I've been going there. Unbelievable traffic, every place was crowded, no chance of getting a reservation at a restaurant, rows of chairs on the beach from the water all the way to the dunes. I've never seen it like that, maybe my two visits were an anomaly (I was there in March and June), but the place appears to have been invaded.
