Perhaps this has been discussed previously. Anyway, I broke my humerous in 2 places, near my shoulder on Feb 28. I won't go into detail in that regard
I had multiple xrays done and started pt after about week 6.
That was painful but I progressed weekly. After about the 10th session, I thought I had peaked, in my recovery. I had all the instructions and equipmemt to carry on at home

All was well until about a month into home pt. I tried to open a jar, of somethimg, don:t recall what. I felt pain for the first time in awhile. I blew it off and continued as normal life. The Pain sunsided to a point. Early mornings were fine but after lunch until bed were Pain. I took tylenol way more than I should have, which did'nt touch it. I went to my family dr and he gave me hydrocodone, and that only partially numbed it.

Since, about 2 weeks, I've been attempting to forget the Pain by inducing alcohol, weed and drugs to no avail. I have an mri tomorrow but I'm not sure I can endure the constant Pain until surgery. I'm positive it will be a shoulder replacement.
Input and critique is welcomed GEAUX TIGERS!!

I understand what you didn't take Tylenol for the first few weeks after the fracture but why didn't you try NSAIDs at this point?

NSAIDs like Aleve and Advil/Motrin are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Tylenol is an analgesic and works at the brain to block pain, NSAIDs work to reduce inflamation which can be the source of joint and muscle pain. You generally don't take NSAIDs for several weeks after a fracture because it can inhibit bone healing but after that it is generally safe. I used to just consider it all pain medicine and would avoid Tylenol, Advil, Aleve if the pain was manageable. Then someone smarter than me pointed out NSAIDs actually promote healing. You can generally take Tylenol and ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve) together since they are different drug classes and processed by different organs (Tylenol liver and the NSAIDs listed in the kidneys). I am not suggesting the NSAIDs would have healed you but that it may have made the pain more manageable. The fact that the pain ramp up through the day might be an indication that much of it was inflammation-induced.

So like you broke it first in Baton Rouge and then in Lafayette?

We have questions; we need answers.
