cgrand posted this in the thread on FDB. It may have already been posted here. I didn't go through the entire thread.

I have spoken to @EntergyNOLA and they are willing to work with St. John to bring a resolution and restore power tonight. I have reached out to Chef Eric as well. My office is asking St. John for permission to review their account. I’m asking both parties to come to the table.

I personally know a Marine that now dresses and grooms like a hipster, so, it's in the realm of possibilities to me.

Great news. Sad that it took a social media shitstorm to make it happen, but it's good that common sense seems to be happening.

Need more info. We know the city is corrupt and entergy is incompetent as well. However, I’m not willing to take this guy for his word either. I imagine there is some blame to go around to all of them.

That's good news. Now, time for Cole to come to that table w some hard facts that the Commissioners can work with and not ignore. Nows his chance to stand up for NOLA as he stated. Has to be with more than just words

I saw an article somewhere in which Cook said he was paying 2 grand a month for energy costs and then a few months ago, Entergy sent him a bill for 40 grand for a meter he didn't know existed. Lots of calls etc... and it was not resolved.

Whole story is strange. He was apparently getting a bill and paying it. Sounds like suddenly this large bill comes up. When was the first time he was billed for the meter that is costing 40 grand? Are there two meters on the building? I'm confused.

Me too! Perfectly stated. Hopefully he has the goods and exposes a bit on the 40K part of the story.

What’s weird is why are there two meters in sequence. He is paying a bill, but there is another meter upstream for the building that was going unpaid, but when shut off hit St. John’s service down stream?

What, is Entergy getting paid twice for same power flow?

From that link:

quote:

In question is what Cook called a long-running dispute over one of several meters serving different parts of the restaurant’s building.

From Fox8:

quote:

“When they come in and one of their employees sticks a piece of paper in my face and says, ‘you’ve got to give me $40,000 or I’m cutting off your power in 15 minutes,’ that’s not business. You know, that’s not how you do business in New Orleans. So, I’m like do it. Do what you got to do,” said Cook.

Cook said for months, there was confusion over which meter Entergy was reading and originally tried to work out a payment plan with the utility.

“Then all of the sudden, some ghost meter-backed log bill comes across our desk for $40,000,” Cook said.

years ago, the business i worked for had an apartment next door to La Boucherie in the quarter. Our electricity bill was stupidly high for a small apartment that was vacant most of the time. for some reason, someone turned the power off at our apartment, and half the kitchen and all of the power in the courtyard of the bar/restaurant was lost. somehow it was our fault.
