WAFB - Overdoses on the rise in BR

quote:

The East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office reports at least 15 people have died from an overdose within the past two weeks. At least four occurred Wednesday, Oct. 6.

It started with just drinking and smoking marijuana, but after that, his addiction grew.

ETA: SIAP. I searched and everything overdose related came up Gabby.

This is happening everywhere. Naturally, as BR has always had a big issue with drugs I would imagine people trying to get drugs that are cut with that fentanyl shite. Its a legitimate problem in BR/La though no doubt.

I think a lot of people just have no purpose. Too much time on their hands. They just sit around, play games, smoke dope, drink, and eventually try harder drugs. Eventually, they die from it. It's not a shock.

Well, it feels good until it doesn't feel good anymore. Then, you move to harder, riskier drugs and the chance of overdose rises.

Much like other parts of the country this has to do with the Feds tightening control and access to drugs (mostly legally obtained) and a flood of knockoff prescription pills that are poorly manufactured and cut with fentanyl.

You can't cut people off and not expect them to go looking elsewhere which inevitably leads to negative outcomes.

We live in a bleak era.

Most people (myself include) are having a tough time with it. We are used to prosperity, and some think we are witnessing in real time the fall of the U.S. as a world power.

Unless you're good at reassuring yourself that all of this is temporary, and have a good way to block out extraneous bullshite, you can drive yourself crazy.

I could see where I was headed. I was nowhere near killing myself via overdose, or even abusing substances, but there was a point in the middle of all this that I realized it was stressing me out to a point I've never experienced before. I said frick it, deleted everything social media except this site, decided to focus on nothing but school, football, and TV shows. Also decided to start therapy which has helped a lot.

Especially for single people, or people without kids, you start to wonder where the tipping point is in terms of stress overpowering all the good about life.
