Out of curiosity I asked about where to find this at a Walgreens in Louisiana. They said I need prescription from my doctor.

I could have sworn there was a bill signed that this was over the counter now.

in 2017 before Covid - Science community:
"Ivermectin has now been used for over three decades to treat parasitic infections in mammals, and has an extremely good safety profile, with numerous studies reporting low rates of adverse events when given as an oral treatment for parasitic infections.50 Several problematic reactions have been recorded, but they are generally mild and usually do not necessitate discontinuation of the drug." Everybody needs to stop making it hard to get at tractor supply for people who actually need the horse sized doses

I wish it would be over the counter for people for that exact reason.

It’s only OTC in some states

My question is, why do you have parasites?

I have yet to find a TS that doesn’t have Ivermectin. Try Valley Vet Supply too.

My two day is rarely 2 day. I usually go that route when I can wait.

And sometimes it’s an emergency that can’t wait. Last time that happened, I drove to several that showed it “in stock” and they’d been out for weeks.

I hope people who buy up all the horse doses take too much

if you are from the south and ran around outside all day through coulees with no shoes on and swam across bayous, you have/had more parasites than you’re aware of

From your link:

February 4, 2021 11:45 am ET

KENILWORTH, N.J., Feb. 4, 2021 – Merck (NYSE: MRK), known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, today affirmed its position regarding use of ivermectin during the COVID-19 pandemic. Company scientists continue to carefully examine the findings of all available and emerging studies of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19 for evidence of efficacy and safety. It is important to note that, to-date, our analysis has identified:

No scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against COVID-19 from pre-clinical studies;
No meaningful evidence for clinical activity or clinical efficacy in patients with COVID-19 disease, and;
A concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies.
We do not believe that the data available support the safety and efficacy of ivermectin beyond the doses and populations indicated in the regulatory agency-approved prescribing information.

This. I raise goats and have a list of antiparasitic drugs to use for them, but Ivermectin is my last line of defense (it kills everything, including the dung beetle larva, which eventually impacts the pasture). Luckily, during the Covid craze I had enough to last until the silliness was over and/or the animals responded to other antiparasitics.

The real danger with people using it outside of medical supervision is the development of drug-resistant parasites. It can happen pretty quickly and is why we have to have a combination of them on the farm to avoid them developing resistance.

The point I was making was it was supposed to be available without a prescription.

As for me I do not need it, but my uncle who is 80 had been using ivermectin pills off and on since the mid 90s. He contracted a lung disease from a visit to Venezuela back then when he work in the oil industry.

You can imagine his concern when the world all of a sudden changed its mind about ivermectin during covid. Luckily his GP was brave enough to get him a large amount to tie him over.

He gets short bouts of of a respiratory infection and the ivermectin helps clear it up. I forget what else he said he takes with it.
