It's for for-profit, diploma mill scam colleges.

It will be race based. A POC will get 100% debt forgiven.

Whites will have to pay it all back, both their own as well as the minority debt.

Cause reparations.

Get to work white boy!

The only people who benefited from this round are those who went to “scam” schools and were deemed “defrauded”. $3B sounds like a lot, but it’s barely a drop in the bucket re: student loans debt in this country.

Yeah it's schools that lost accreditation or something similar, and I think it's only for students that haven't graduated yet, so end up in debt with zero transferable hours. Not sure how to interpret the red tape language in the Dept of ED website, though.

But point being, they've already started the process to revoke one of Tulane's med school accreditations (for being racist, of course), and given who the new university president is, I'm sure LSU won't be far behind.

In theory, yes.

Yeah the rationale is that he would be using the same authority both he and Trump used to freeze the payments and interest accrual entirely for the past year.

I think Biden is more likely to suspend payments indefinitely than he is to forgive large amount of debt by EO.

Nope, still deep in student debt. But I’m not apart of the demographics they want to extend the forgiveness for

When I first saw this headline I was mad about it. All of my student loans were refinanced for a better interest rate after school. But if you read about this they forgave people who were ripped off by some of those bullshite schools that basically scammed people out of money.

This is the reason why they need to treat student loans like all other loans and weigh the risk. You should not be able to take out the same value of loans for cosmetics or other bullshite degrees as you should stem/medical/etc.

Department of Education has now canceled at least $3 billion in student loans since the beginning of the year.

How? How can they just cancel it? Money both is and isn’t some abstract thing. It is because there is nothing physically backing our current paper currency. It isn’t because if they just print mire JT becomes worthless. This move to just cancel student loans debt is a terrible decision.

$0.00

Stimulus packages and credits don't help me. I'm middle class.

You can bet that the student loan debt forgiveness isn't going to help me either.

I worked 2 jobs from 2012 to 2018 to pay off all my debt. I think student loans are a sham and the federal government needs to get out from them to put downward pressure on tuition prices, but if I could pay them back through hard work, so can everyone else.

All of this.

Modern progressive ideology wants to penalize people like me. They definitely aren't letting anyone like me take advantage of a loan forgiveness program like this.

I think about this far more often than I should. I work, pay my taxes, pay my bills, and try to be financially responsible. Meanwhile, we all know the other side of this. I often question who is the stupid one (sucker) in this scenario.

Full tuition scholarship kept me from needing loans. Unfortunately, my wife still has a bit to pay off.
