While it’s only looking at one country it does bring up many important points. Like everything there are good and bad sides. So I was wrong in trying to focus just on the bad sides.

She harvested over 2000 lbs of meat from that giraffe.
So, she killed a nuisance animal, and fed a frickton of people with it. I fail to see the problem.

Sounds like they should've had a backup plan

People are retarded. These hunts are huge business for the locals. Plus it really helps conservation efforts and gives a frick ton of meat. I hate idiots who freak out over things they have no idea what they are talking about

Because it's meat, and usually not widely available like it is in this country.
Also, giraffe jerky is pretty damn good. I'm sure a nice giraffe steak would also be pretty damn good.

typically these types of hunts cost a pretty penny, and the money goes into conservation efforts. Otherwise they have very little money for such efforts.
There's a very good argument that it's kind of a necessary "evil" per se.
This will not resonate with those that have shown outrage because, believe it or not, the preservation of the species isn't really most important to them.
They attach human emotions to these animals...and thus, they are sad to see them killed.
You can easily see who thinks emotionally in this thread. You have half the group who can process the idea of conservation and the positive results of big game hunting. The others can't get past the sadness they experience when considering it. They reject the conservation aspect despite it achieving what should be the most important goal.

Listening to the Meateater Podcast from this week, and they presented a story about some cormorant hunting in the northwest that was going on to curb predation on salmon populations that were swimming out to sea. The antihunters got involved, and got the practice stopped because it was "cruel to the cormorants".
Your comment just made me think about that and laugh, because it's absolutely true. People that don't like the "unnecessary" death of an animal will never be swayed, no matter the amount of data that supports hunting as a viable management tool, and the amount of money that is funneled into management because of hunters.

It is fricking ridiculous.
You see these tards proud of their Giraffe(really tough kill there jackass), or a black Rhino(hunting from a truck)kills , animals that are going extinct. Let's hope a Pit bull finds her one day

Is Scott the white-guilted brewer in here?
Is Gravy in this thread?
Is there a fight between Afreaux and everyone else?
A woman killed a giraffe.
Move along...move along...

I didn’t read the article so I can’t say this for this specific hunt, but big game hunters pay a shite pile of money to go over there to hunt. The money is used to fund animal conservation groups in Africa. So, by sacrificing one, you help protect the others from black market poachers and other methods of animal endangerment. Any hunter can tell you that hunting is good for the ecosystem. It maintains a balance. And in this case, it helps fund the fight against illegal poaching and wildfile endangerment.
