Friend,
I do not want to insinuate anything, but have you considered that the lawnmower behind the shed was not being scrapped?
Yours,

Everyone has their passions.
Some people like fishing, woodworking, birdwatching, reading... and some people like repairing used vacuums they find in the trash

I actually worked with an older black dude that was driving around with a friend in his truck and came across a Snapper riding mower at the curb. He stopped his truck and took a look at it and said, “shite, this thing is in good shape. Can’t be that much wrong with it.” He and his buddy proceeded to load it up into his truck bed and start to drive off and the homeowner comes running out of the house and chases them down the street hollering, so he stopped. Turns out, the guy was about to cut his grass and parked the mower there then went inside to get something. We laughed our asses off when he told us the story.
Moral of the story: Never, ever leave your mower near the curb.

I dont dumpster dive, but I always look for used things before I buy new. Facebook Marketplace has a lot of deals come up if you look often enough. I've bought a few cars and appliances on it.

My old neighbor left a huge flat screen on the side of the road(this was six years ago). We saw them carry it down, looked brand new. So went and asked what was wrong with it....it had a small crack(I mean tiny). It was a 1200 dollar TV at the time.
Needless to say was a massive win. I never noticed the thin crack when watching it.

My kids had those when they were young. My old man dropped some lawn mower batteries in them. A real Tim Allen move, but they lasted forever.

That shite was hilarious. We were joking around one day and another black guy was fricking with him and called him a “lawnmower stealin’ motherfricker.” I said, “What’s that about?” And he says, “Go on Odie, tell them about you stealing that man’s lawnmower!” He says, “I wasn’t stealing it goddammit, I though they were giving it away!”

You sure are overcompensating a lot in this thread. That’s like 3 times you’ve arbitrarily proclaimed how much more of a man you are because you cleaned a vacuum.

I'm with you. I picked up a bbq pit from someone's driveway two weeks ago.
Picked up a Weber Kettle in 1984( year I was married that’s how I remember).
Old fellow up the street was wanting a gas grill and was putting this out. He’d been having it a while he said.
Contacted Weber and described it. No year of mfg code on the vents. Weber said probably from around ‘74.
Still have it and still use it occasionally as a back up.

Well at least I didn’t tell you that you were poor. I told you that you had a tiny dick.

Took it out to the garbage. Last I saw it was on the street for the garbage men to pick up.
