Other than Dudley DeBosier, what other BR businesses are owned by Private Equity?

Been reading how private equity is going after local, small businesses. Think like HVAC, plumbing, pest control, laundromats, medical practices, car washes, Vet Clinics, Dentals, etc.

Trying to avoid anything to do with Private Equity. Seems the the business gets shitter anytime they get involved with it.

Also, for Lake Charles too. I just found out Ace Air Conditioning is involved with them. I split time between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles.

Don't want to be the guy who gets too technical here, but I believe DD is "managed" by PE for an amount that looks similar to what an owner of the business would make since non-lawyers still cannot partake in lawyer fees in Louisiana.

You’d be surprised. It’s likely a lot more than people know, including what we all assume is a “family owned” business

Are you suggesting that this whole plan is a mere technicality? Are you saying that - what are you saying?

I'm just regurgitating what I read and understood.

Assume PE also are buying local body shops as multiple have been bought out in LC.

For 15-20 years

Vets and dentists/orthodontists are very common, if not the vast majority in metro areas.

ETA:

I worked in PE for a while and bought lots of businesses you mentioned.

Their long term goal is to be the last man standing. We will be left with shitty service for everything. With body shops they’ll lobby their way into favorable insurance deals until the mom and pop shops are decimated. They will get into pharmacies at some point and manipulate that as well. It’s capitalism run amuck.

Far more than you’d think. From hvac/plumbing/electrical to tech, I’d be willing to say upwards of 1/3 of businesses are PE owned and/or operated.

I’m not defending PE here I’ve seen the bad of it and been part of the blue moon occasion where some good comes of it (PE that owned the company I worked for sold it and put us all in a way better position financially. Just added more corporate red tape in regard to daily operations) but when did PE become the new social media talking point?

It’s like overnight more and more people started talking about it and sharing opinion pieces/articles about it all of a sudden.

OP please don’t think I’m lumping you into this category but when I started seeing the people with wolf memes and vehicles as their profile pics move on from sharing articles about carbon captures and data centers to PE buying Pizza Hut I thought someone somewhere is pushing the algorithm to generate rage bait and make PE the new boogie man to people who probably never knew what it stood for to send all over the internet. Guess it could have been a PE firm who owns data centers now that I think about it

I now google to see who owns what I’m interested in. PE is a nope. I need to have some air/heat work done hopefully in the spring and am sticking with local and confirm I’m reading is “owned by….”I’m making a list of companies and researching, avoiding the big names. Most middle rate restaurants are now PE. Seems most everything is. Thankfully my vet isn’t.

why do you hate america

anyway, i assume that like all pest control are private equity

All roofing is "private equity" aka a white guy comes and talks to you about a roof and then gets a bunch of illegals to do the work. They may or may not have insurance in this circumstance

ETA: I don't want to say the obvious but "private equity" means a group of you know who i'm talking about has a lot of money and true blood american boomers started a business and made enough money to send their kids to college and now the kids don't want to work so the boomer dad sells out. real shame what's happening to america
