Why not a gun?
She has one in her car, but she is often in situations where carrying a gun isn’t feasible.

Red pepper spray.
Wish we had pocket phasers like on star trek.
If you go to the cop store to buy any of that stuff, be sure to say its for use against large dogs. In fact they will persuade you to say that.

Many years ago while working in the Virginia area my wife went sightseeing in Washington, DC with my parents. When going into the Capital Building she was detained due to having a can of mace spray in her purse that my neighbor gave her for protection. They were very cordial about this and gave her a warning citation and took procession of the mace can.
I would get a small can of bear spray instead of pepper spray.

Can of pepper spray and maybe even a decent pocket knife.
But the best self defense device is situational awareness. Make sure she is never alone and to use common sense. If it doesn't feel right, trust that gut instinct.

You think a can of wasp spray is feasible for most people to carry around all the time?
Sure. A full can of w&s spray in the purse is a backup weapon. Have you ever been wacked upside the head by a purse with a full aerosol can in it? I haven’t either but I’ll bet it feels less than spectacular.

Pepper spray
Make sure you get her the gel kind. She has to be a little more intentional about aiming it, but it wont blow back in her face. There was a story in Houston where a teen sprayed a guy and it blew back in her eyes and she couldnt run away.

women should never move around alone after dark (my daughters don't listen either)
pepper spray
stun gun (mistakenly called a taser by most)
taser
whistle
women need to drop their pride and pure ignorance. women shouldn't jog alone in the daytime, much less be out anywhere at 4am.

The Memphis Fletcher murder has intensified my worry for my daughter’s safety. Other than a gun, is there any self-defense product y’all recommend??
Seriously, you can have pepper spray, a stun gun, etc but if someone comes up from behind and grabs you, that weapon is worthless.
The best thing is probably have her take some self defense classes or even take taekwondo (seriously). Something where they can physically defend themselves.
But taking the right precautions don't hurt either. If she runs in the morning, for example, don't go the same route every day, do it where a lot of people are around, etc.

Ink pen with a knife blade inside. I've given a couple of women those.

It is very hard for a scared/startled normal person to use a gun quick enough to take down a perp.
