Really? Well have you ever tried doing you exact workout schedule youre on right now while eat <100g carbs? Id be willing to be that you lose no strength or muscle mass over the course of an entire month.

Exactly.
Like stated previously IIFYM is about as simple as it can get. Carbs will help fuel him so he doesn't feel drained. 200g carbs is fine. Hell I eat over 300g carbs a lot of days. I don't consider it "excessive" it helps fuel my workouts

I personally like keto, but its not the end all be all. most people should just do IIFYM. Its proven and works every time if done right.

why would he do that? most people enjoy carbs and respond perfectly fine. keto isn't for everyone.

You like, hell i do too, but for most its not the solution.

plenty of people get in competition shape while eating a flexible diet.

Carbs help you build muscle. Insulin is anabolic.

People love this keto/low carb because it makes you lose 10 lbs of water weight. Then they have no idea what to eat outside of carbs and lose weight. Either way, we all need to be tracking protein and calories if aiming for a specific goal.

It COULD help him lose body fat while retaining mass, bodyweight and strength. I have no idea if he's 12%bf and 220lbs. If that's the case then roll with your 300+ carbs because obviously he can handle that much. Some people cant, and he said that 300+ carbs are used to "fuel his workouts". Well, all I asked was if he's tried his routine on <100. He may notice no change at all in energy levels when lifting. I don't at all.

Im not advocating strict keto. 100 grams of carbs is not keto. I never said go less than 30 grams a day like he's cutting for a show.

what i am saying is if what he is doing is working why change it?

keto is great for some people, i happen to be one of those people. but many people respond well to carbs and like was posted above carbs do help in muscle building.

and keto is just a strategy to help you stay within your calorie limits. are there slight(very slight) thermogenic properties to it? yes, but not enough to concern yourself with.

does keto tend to target belly fat more so then other diets? yes, but not enough to concern your self about when you are like the OP and 250 lbs.

Well I'm 6'3, 246 so not sure if that helps determine where I'm at. I'll run to GNC later and buy calipers as well to measure my bf%.

Also, just got back from the store with bananas, strawberries, veggies (fresh and frozen), also some more eggs. Hope I got everything

Actually I have. Start my summer cut I do a carb cycle and eat under 100g of carbs 4 days out the week. My workouts do suffer and I am more fatigued during this time

I am a low body fat and lighter weight guy.
I was 5'9 250+ and fat a few years ago and lost weight doing different diets and have discovered what my body responds best to

IIFYM makes it easier for me, especially during maintenance and bulk. I do a carb cycle to start cut then eat at my cut cals and macros after

This guy is obviously bigger. He should see good results using a simple IIFYM diet

If it fits your Macros, correct? Which I'd be looking at Protein, Fats and Carbs?

We are efficient at running long distances because we use two legs instead of four, and we sweat so we are better at body temperature regulation during running.. but that still doesn't mean prehistoric humans were running 5-10 miles/day. Walking? Sure. But I doubt they literally ran everywhere they went. I think they ran to get away from predators or to hunt down game, but otherwise walked.

Calories
Then, yes, protein, carbs, and fats.
It is the diet I have had the most success with. I have dropped around 90-100 lbs over the last 4-5 years. I started with basic stuff and tried a lot a long the way. IIFYM has been the easiest and most successful I have found for myself

correct. so plug those numbers into mfp as your goal and try to get within 5-10% each day while staying within the calorie limit.

so if you want the nuttella or sushi or even ice cream, save the macros and have at it. just make sure you accurately weigh everything before you eat it and make sure to measure the food raw.

Worked up to 310 on bench earlier.

Golf jacked me up yesterday. Left elbow and trap were tricky today.
