You are foolish for taking this stance IMHO.
You are part of the problem. We have too many enabled titty babies running around these days. What is wrong with personal resposability these days?
The Alabama Dept of Health addressed health concerns at our high school last year. It wasn't teen pregnancies. It was syphylis. No amount of birth control is gonna fix that.
Our county has had a 3x increase in heroine overdoses in the past year. Providing birth control ain't gonna fix that either.
IMO, we have too many parents, teachers, and law enforcement types enabling these kids to be frick ups. There are no reprecussions anymore for stupidity.
"Don't worry about fricking your boyfriend darling, daddy is gonna put you on the pill and pay for it!"

When your child has a baby at 16 and fricks his/her life up plus yours. Just because you are to blind to think your kid isn't having sex shows your mental aptitude.

Dude.......
She's fricking her boyfriend. I'm not stupid or blind. However, she and he can use condoms. It's her responsibility to take care of that. If she wants to get the pill, she has a job and can go pay for it. frick. Y'all are some obtuse motherfrickers up in here.

It is part of your personal responsibility to give your child the best chance to succeed. They aren't on their own until a certain age for a reason.

The big problem used to be teen pregnancy though. Theres a reason teen pregnancy is on the decline and it's mainly contraceptives.

Condom use can greatly decrease your chance of getting syphilis. Thanks for making my point.

The frick does this have to do with anything?

Trying to protect your child is not enabling. It's being a parent. Your kid gets caught smoking pot? They get a slap on the wrist and it goes off the record when they are 18. Get pregnant because you are doing what your body wants you to do and it can potentially wreck your future and put more strain on government programs designed to help young poor people with children.
Much easier to put her on the pill and hand out a few rubbers.

No kids but I'll approach it the same way my dad did. Drive me around the hood and tell me this is where you end up if you start having kids and not going to school.
Economic enforced abstinence is the best abstinence.

Man, you need to get laid.

Keep your youth my friend. Every time a man gives himself to a woman, a bit of his soul dies. Until there's nothing left but a whisper of a meep.

Exactly. Which is why we have discussed how having a baby at this age would negatively impact her future. It also why we have recommended abstaining from sex (along with drugs and drinking). However, if they are going to have sex, then use birth control. It's sold everywhere.

I said I wasn't providing my kids with birth control. That doesn't mean that I haven't told them to go get it themselves. It's THEIR responsibility to take care of that.

No. It's enabling. You're telling your kids there are not repercussions for their stupidity. If you get busted with pot and you're under 18, go to fricking jail. The kids at our high school have figured out quick that they can do anything just short of killing someone with this prevailing attitude. It is creating a huge problem and is leading to increased drug use, increased sexual activity, and increased drinking and destructive behavior.
Look, I'm telling you what I see from experience with two high school aged kids here in the burbs of Bham, Al. I had one of my son's 14 yr old buddies say just the other day, "I can do whatever I want until I'm 18 years old." Thats the environment we have created.

Sorry to break it to you, but that's not a new development. I grew up in Vestavia Hills.
It's always been this way -- especially in affluent areas. My buddies and I would all sneak out of our houses around 1am and roam the streets until 5am. We'd take beer out of open garages. We'd wake girls up and go party in the woods. Got my first blowjob at 13 and lost my virginity at 14 to a girl from Mountain Brook. We all smoked pot and tripped before we were 14. We were all juvenile delinquents if we were in a slightly lower socio-economic environment.
And this was all 20 years ago.
Kids are going to get fricked up and get fricked. It's just what they do.
Stop with the these kids today bullshite.

Alls Im saying is, Id much rather know they arent going to get pregnant than leave it up to them. Its responsible parenting.

It's the environment we've created. It might not be different from what you experienced 20 years ago in Vestavia, but it's different from the one I had in Hoover 25 years ago. Kids went to jail.
