OT Medical Drs - How egregious is misdiagnosising a broken leg as a bruise??

Obviously this is related to Saints firing their team orthopedists. On the surface to a non medical person this seems pretty crappy but maybe we are missing something ( A slight break is very similar to a bruise or something like that).

Thoughts??

An xray cost 10 bucks and takes 4 seconds. Pretty egregious mistake.

Are you going to go around and x-ray all leg bruises? No.

But a dude whose fibula was just broken on an NFL roster? Yes.

Depends on the X-ray and what it shows or does not show.

I'm curious to know how they arrived at a diagnosis of "bone contusion." Did they do a standard x-ray or a more rigorous test?

Some years ago, I fell and had a pain in my chest. I went to Lake After Hours and then my regular doctor. Neither one could find anything broken. Three weeks later, I had a CT scan for something unrelated. That's when they found the broken rib; 8th rib, right side.

Sometimes fractures/breaks can take up to a week to show up.

Don't know. Scruffy would have to see the image. That is assuming they got an image.
