Long story short, I've got four friends who all got married over the last two years and all four have admitted to wishing they hadn't. All of them knew their girls for 5+ years too before popping the question. Anyway, figured I'd ask you guys on how you feel about it.

It's a lifetime choice you make with limited information. You have to be able to compromise, and adapt. Selfish people don't make is far. If both partners truly care about the other, it works.

I'm not changing a thing. I have two kids, a beautiful wife, a nice house. Yeah me and the wife fight but I always just choke her out. Everything is nice and quiet after that.

If I went back and changed what I had now, I'd shoot myself in the face.

Yep. If all these men had been with their wives for at least 5 years prior to marrying them.....sounds like they spent all of their 20s in a relationship. So they never got time to be single as an adult that is out of college and enjoy some independence.

The first years of marriage doesn't count. Those are shite years.

Had an older guy tell me, "My wife and I have been happily married 28 years. We celebrate our 30th anniversary next month."

First five years sucked. Either fighting or fricking. The last 19 have been great. I wouldn't change a thing. Just don't quit.

1st 5 years sucked and you wouldn't change a thing? So you're ok with not improving your sucking situation?

If I could go back in time, there would be a laundry list of things for me. shite, that's why scientists are obsessed with time travel. A 2nd chance to undo wrongs. ,

I saw an episode of Married with Children years ago that sums it up.
Al: "Sometimes I look over on the couch and see her and wonder why she doesn't go home, and then it hits me... she is home. Now look what you've done, I'm depressed."

Yes I do not regret the mistakes I made. Just needed to stop making them for thing to improve.

Some solid answers in here. We had our share of fights for the first few years. Takes a while to get lined out no matter how long you date each other. Also takes a lot of effort and patience. I wouldn't change a thing, though.

Wait til your 30 at least.

Unless your stuck in small town Texas or La. In which case you'll get beat up repeatedly for being ghey.
