OT lawyers: Do you love what you do, or are you constantly looking for an escape hatch?

This job has put food on my table for a long time, but holy shite, it sucks balls.

Anybody want to go in with me on a bar? I hear bar owners just print money.

Stressful no doubt. Spend all day solving other people’s problems. Go home and deal with family problems. Wake up in the middle of the night worrying if you forgot to do something, or forgot to file something, or when is this due? It has its moments but overall a stressful grind.

Being a lawyer has to be a lot like shoplifting. Lawyers have to finagle their way around the truth just like shoplifters have to finagle their way out of getting caught.

I am pretty content. Young lawyers worry too much. Do your best. Screw ups will happen to anyone but most problems can be fixed.

I know some miserable lawyers. Then again I know some lawyers pulling in seven figures.

One owns his own valley in western NC because he didn't want to be disturbed by the peasants

I love what I do

But I also went the route early on where I sacrificed income for quality of life. Now the income has arrived but the quality of life is still there

I also avoid litigation like the plague

Most lawyers that are miserable are that way because they chase the dollar early and get caught up in the machine of firm life
