In Louisiana you can be let go just for breathing. If you violated company policy and were under contract, they probably found a way to let you go without risking a case against themselves. Unless you're making 7 figures, it's generally not worth fighting this situation.

I'd go all in. No way will suing your previous employer affect in any way your future employability in that industry.

Some background: my clinic director and I didn't exactly get along

Two incidents, disparaging remarks against the company, clinic director doesn’t like you…

Honest question…are you sure the problem here isn’t you?

You don’t have a case at all about anything. I don’t want to be a jerk and I don’t know you but it sounds to me like you got a little too much ego and got humbled. You may have been under the impression that you were irreplaceable. This isn’t the Covid nursing shortage bonanza anymore. Don’t take a company’s money, publicly disparage them then wonder why they don’t want you to work for them anymore.

I would need to get more details to know if we have a case. Call my office and set up a consultation. Consultation rate is $350/hr.

Seems like you’re leaving out very important details.

Well, if I owned a company and you made bad remarks concerning it, I’d find a reason to let you go. I had a part time job in Homer once that I hated. I knew they were reading my emails. I was going to give a 3 week notice but instead insulted the ceo in one of my emails. Didn’t have to return. :).

Why do people make disparaging comments against their employer to other employees?

At our work Christmas party last month, our VP asked us what we would do if we "won the lottery?"

8-10 people said "Oh I would quick immediately" or "stop working"
one person even answered "I would ghost this job"

He took his notes,

When everyone was done, he said the lottery amount was $500 and he took notes on who said what...

Why are you not going into detail about the two previous incidents? And why, with those two incidents in your file, would you think it was a good idea to shite-talk the company and bully the clinic director?

That's stupid and the VP sounds petty AF.
