Gangs of New York is a fictional movie that's only historical basis is that some people with those names existed..it has no basis in historical fact whatsoever.
And the concept of racism didn't exist until post WW1 when Leon Trotsky coined the word racistov in Bolshevik Russia and start using it as one of many reasons to murder people. While prejudices were obviously known and practiced throughout the world with differing levels and opinions of acceptability, simple ingroup preference had for all of human history throughout all the world been considered normal and natural. It still is everywhere outside of Western whites.
None of that changes the fact that Protestant/Catholic are religious differences, not racial and these religious differences were the bigger impetus in strife. See England and Ireland
Finally, Northern European descended people in America inuding English, Norman French, German, Dutch, Swedish did in fact see themselves as the same, and Theodore Roosevelt became immensely popular spreading a notion that these Northern European races had come together to create an uber American race. He eventually won the Presidency thanks in no small part due to this racial based popularity

If I were choosing for her I'd almost certainly choose a white guy but I could accept any race if she's happy. But no go on a practicing Muslim.

Islam isn't a peaceful religion. It's a full blown dangerous cult driven by an ideology that advocates for slaughtering nonbelievers, to treat women like property and rape them at will regardless of their martial status and to frick little boys like they're some consenting adult woman, advocates for the most draconian punishments for the most petty of crimes and is quite literally the most oppressive belief system in the world and has not evolved with the western world like christianity has.

Judging by the picture he posted the other day, my wife pointed out he's hung like a field mouse.
If my daughter brings home nearly any guy with decent moral character, I'm cool with it.

Or it could be that parents want grandkids that look like them. Also blacks have statistically lower IQs and are more prone to crime.
I still wouldn't my daughter to marry an asian either...cause id rather have grandkids that looked like me. Some have different opinions..its a free country and no im not a bad person.
