This.

So often I see accidents and near-accidents caused by people that are "too defensive". At some point, being aggressive is absolutely 100% the right thing to do.

The sign in the link clearly says that the right lane ends and must merge into the truck's lane. The truck is under no duty to "let" anyone into the lane it's in. Clearly the car's fault for not merging before its lane ended.

Car has to yield even if it means to stop. 100% at fault.

Did the trucker even try to slow down? I pull a 2 ton travel trailer and know that the braking distance is much longer but it's hard to tell on this video if that truck slowed any.

Looks to me this is exactly what the car tried to do.

I drive 42' diesel pusher regularly. People are extremely stupid, you have to account for that as a driver of a larger vehicle.

Lift off the throttle, tap the brakes, very simple.

at this particular interchange, if he touches his brakes, he is going to have about 15 cars piled up behind because everyone drives like assholes right there(me included)trying to merge around the truck because if you get stuck in the lane they are traveling in and cannot merge, you will run out of road. You have to get over at least two lanes within a mile in order to stay on the interstate or you have to exit at the international terminal for the airport. It is poorly designed and always congested.

Looks like the car had plenty of room and even slowed a little before the accident. Car is at fault.

Agreed 100%.

I just think you deal w/ the immediate threat (problem) first.

My goal, even if I have to give ground, is to not tear something up. I feel like I'm a better driver than most everyone (says everyone, always ) and a big part of that is assuming they are going to screw up.

It sucks, but that's driving on the street.

Some fault on the Truck because it had chance to avoid too.
Last clear chance hasn't been a thing since before we got out of school. 100% car.

I agree but he has cars drafting him like it is the last lap at Talladega right there. It was always poorly designed but once the added the exit for the international terminal and traffic is terrible at anytime of the day.

No the car slowed down and the truck maintained same speed.

Simply, this. There's a sign that says so at every on-ramp. Get on the freeway fast enough to not cause an accident...or yield.

At the very end before impact the distance between the car and the semi in front of it got shorter....correct?

So the semi in front of the vehicle was slowing down, traffic in the slow lane was slowing as well......yet the truck driver kept barreling through without adjusting to traffic conditions...fault.
