It really wasn't a terrible location. Citiplace has slowly gotten better over time and being that close to corporate & I-10 should have given this place an advantage.
It's disconnected from it's target market and everyone tends to avoid college drive traffic if they can.

Pelican House always seemed to me to be a shittier version of The Bulldog
...........
And, many businesses have had trouble staying open down that corridor.
A lot of things were going against them. I'm not sure why any of these choices were the customers' fault.

GTFO with that bullshite. Bot of those may be "chains" to you but I grew up eating at the originals and they are anything but to me. Not to mention they put out a hell of a good and consistent product.

As far as corporate goes, they are in a good area. I hope my company moves our location towards LSU
I'd argue that part of corporate isn't very good.
Unless you can draw your target demo to the area for dinner (Sullivan's, Movie Tavern) you're gonna have a difficult time
Look at the failed businsesses that specific area has seen come and go.

So many places have closed in that area. It’s a good part of town but not enough traffic around it. Plus it’s ducked off in the back.

Side note:
anybody know what hotel is going up by the Pelican House?

Probably anoher smuck putting up another brew bar thinking they are better then the last to do it.

You completely missed my point but whatever

The chicken tenders were legit.

It's been a while since I've been there, but one thing that definitely stood out was the service was always at least a little lackluster.
And the "adults only" policy when they first opened was a vast misjudgment of clientele.

I've never been to Pelican House and felt like it was a proper bar scene or that their message was getting across. I can remember going there for the GBP/ATL NFC game and the place felt dead. Also, their wait staff seemed aloof at times.

Pelican House closed because it sucked arse, not because of chain restaurants

Screw that guy
He knew he opened in a poor location
I’m sure he’s lying about unforeseen repairs too

Didn’t they charge ridiculous prices for food/drink?
Also sounds like since they switched from a bar to a full time restaurant recently that the issue was not cash flow or chain restaurants, but not being committed to and executing that idea well.
Restaurants are a tough business, even in big cities. Unless you are a chain or have something that makes you stand out, you’re doomed to fail eventually.
What at the Pelican house was so good or unique that people needed to go there and keep coming back?
