There's a stretch on I-35 in Dallas that has every chain restaurant ever created I think. It goes on for Miles

Gavin Jobe looks like a douche on Facebook. It matches his statement.

Dumbasses did away with the best thing on the menu. The Blondie Brownie.

Been to PH many times both before and after restaurant transition. It was good but it was never so good it was on or regular "rotation". While I agree that we need to support local restaurants and chefs..it's up to the business to find a way to adapt to the community it wants to serve...not the other way around.

People vote with their wallets. If you can't satisfy the customer or bring in enough business, then maybe your decision to open up a restaurant wasn't the best choice. You can't expect the customer to change to your standards, you have to cater to theirs. It sucks for him because it was a great place, but them's the rules of business. Sorry to see him close,

The first 3 times I went there the menu was completely different every time. Little did I realize it was the customers' fault

ETA: Overpass Merchant changes their menu frequently and they are killing it. That's how it's done folks.

My college girlfriend was a bartender at Damon's. I used to go in there and play trivia all of the time

Yep.

Often times entrepreneurs will start a business because they have found something that they are passionate about and believe the rest of the public will share their passion with them. This is the wrong strategy.

Small business owners should look for a problem. Then figure out a way to solve that problem. The business will then form and follow.

The reason why all the privately owned restaurants, cafes, and hole in the walls make it in New Orleans...because they all make something that keeps people coming back. Some of them for years if not decades. And they're not all a place you'd only bring a date for an expensive nice meal. Not every single restaurant that opens that isn't a chain has to be that way. Nobody from Baton Rouge seems to get that though.

Always liked Macaroni. I worked at Damon's in Lafayette when they first opened.

Pelican House was the very definition of mediocre. He made a bad business decision and wants to blame the people.

Baton Rouge has plenty of chains as does most all cities, New Orleans included and there is always a segment of a population that will use them for whatever reason but Baton Rouge does have some good chef driven restaurants and if you are good they will support you.

But if you think “elevating Southern Classics like short rib grilled cheese, fried okra and a pork chop plate” is going to inspire my support you are sorely mistaken and my money will be spent elsewhere.

And as the other thread indicated the couple of times I visited it was dirty.

The layout sucked for a bar and they waited until it was much too late to convert it to a restaurant

Plenty of places don't make it in nola. Hell, it's arguably harder to keep a place open there than BR.

Plenty of BR places offer what you said they don't
